Romance

Happy Valentine’s Day!  I thought I would write today about a few of my favorite romances in the books I’ve read.  I rarely read straight up romance novels, but I do enjoy reading about it mixed in with fantasy and adventure.  So here are a few of my favorites!

I think this was the first book I read by Maggie, and I just fell in love with it.  I just loved her take on werewolves, they change when the weather is cold and stay in wolf form until the warm weather shows up again.  But this story, the first in a series, is more about the romance than it is about werewolves.  It is an epic love story that made me cry at the end. There are two more books in the series, but the first one is the truly romantic one.

Die For Me by Amy Plum

Check out that cover!  You just know that this is a romance book, but did you also know it has zombies?  Okay not Walking Dead zombies, but the cute sexy ones, know as Revenants. In this book there is a group of people who die and then are resurrected a few days later totally fine and healthy.  They usually die trying to save others. So you can imagine where this is going, cute revenant saves young girl’s life and they fall in love. And it takes place in Paris!  Again this is the first in a trilogy, but the romance is mostly in the first.

The Seven Realms Series By Cinda Williams Chima

This series is one of my all time favorites.  If you have never read it you should.  It has everything I love in a good book, strong lead characters who have to fight for what they want and believe in, evil wizards (in fact most of the wizards in this book are evil) action and adventure in a medieval type setting so lots of sword play too and of course romance.  This romance between the two main characters of Han Alister and Princess Raisa ann’Marianna spans the whole series.  They only meet briefly in the first book, when Han kidnaps Raisa.  They then meet up again in the second book and that is when the romance starts.  But as you know true love rarely runs smoothly, so it isn’t until the last book that they finally get together. Ms Chima has started a second series that is also based in this world called the Shattered Realms, which is shaping up to be just as good.

I am sure there are lots of good romance stories mixed into fantasy and adventure books, these just happen to be my favorites. What are yours?
