Top 5 Wednesday

Top 5 Wednesday!

It has been awhile since I did a Top 5 Wednesday.  Partly because of time constraints, but also because I struggled with coming up with books that matched the topics!  This month had some really good topics, but not ones that I could think of answers to.  I did enjoy reading everyone else’s answers though.  Don’t forget to stop by Top 5 Wednesday Goodreads group to see everyone else’s answers to this month’s topic!

This week’s topic is: Discuss the books you’ve picked up because you’ve heard of them in the online book community or platform you use.

This was an easy one for me.  I have found so many good reads since I started blogging and following so many good blogs.  It was hard to narrow it down to just five, and I may have cheated a bit with one of them but here you go.

Any book by Victoria Schwab.  Earlier this spring, I just kept seeing reviews on her books and they all sounded so good that I finally picked up This Savage Song and loved it.  Now I’ve only read three of her books, but I have become a fan.  I am working on finding the time to read more of her books in the near future.

Eliza and Her Monsters

I kept seeing reviews for this book and it sounded amazing so I had to pick it up eventually.  It was so good and I was so glad I picked it up. Contemporary is not a go to genre for me, so a book has to  have some sort of hook for me to pick it up and this one was Eliza’s webcomic as well as her anxiety disorder being well written.

Poison's Kiss Cover

This one I almost picked up on Netgalley and then decided not to because of time constraints at the time.   I then started to see a lot of good reviews for it, so decided to pick it up.  Another winner.  If you haven’t read it I highly recommend it.  Check out my review here.

I haven’t read these two yet.  I just picked them up from the library, but I am including them in this list because I picked them up because of someone’s post on Top five Wednesday.   They both sounded really good.  I also had just recently read Vassa in the Night so was interested in reading something else by Sarah Porter.  I also just adore their covers!

The Pearl Thief

It is rare for me to see an audiobook review on any of the blogs I follow.  I had been thinking about reading this book, even though I am not a huge fan of historical fiction, only because Code Name Verity is one of the only books in that genre that I truly enjoyed.  Then I saw the review on Paper Fury and she mentioned how good the audiobook was so, it is now on my listening TBR and will probably be my next listen.

So that is it for this week’s Top Five Wednesday.  Did you read any of these books? Or perhaps you found a new one to read?  Let me know in the comments!

  1. When I Cast Your Shadow! I haven’t read it yet and I haven’t seen many people talk about it, but I really liked Vassa in the Night and I want to read more by Sarah Porter too.
And This Savage Song was also on my list for this week (another favorite I read because of good reviews).
