Books I didn’t get to in 2017

This week’s topic is going to be hard.  There were so many books I didn’t get to in 2017.  So I decided to limit myself to the books I own, not ones on my TBR.  I already got two out of the way, so I think I am on a roll right now and hope to get these done in the first few months of the year. 

1. Walkaway by Cory Doctorow

I love everything that Cory writes, both his YA and adult books.  This one is for adults, but I am sure that it will still be amazing and older YA’s will maybe like it too.  Still not sure about that orange cover though.

2. A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Schwab

I should have picked this up the second I finished A Darker Shade of Magic, I don’t know what is wrong with me.  I loved that first book, but life sometimes gets in the way.

3. Murder Magic and What We Wore by Kelly Jones

I picked this up at a local author event and always meant to read it before the year was out.  I seem to be on a historical fiction roll right now so maybe this one will be next?  Plus a promise from the author that there is no romance, how refreshing!

From Goodreads: The year is 1818, the city is London, and our heroine, 16-year-old Annis Whitworth, has just learned that her father is dead and all his money is missing. And so, of course, she decides to become a spy.

 

The next two are from my Audiobook TBR, so I don’t actually own the physical books, but I have the audios, so it counts!

4. They Both Die At the End by Adam Silvera.

Lots of you lovely book bloggers loved this book and also Adam Silvera’s work so I added this to my list last year.  Not familiar with the reader’s work so hopefully he will do this justice. The premise sounds interesting.  I am really interested to see if they really do both die at the end and how.

5. One of Us is Lying by Karen McManus

This one kept coming up on my NetGalley dashboard, but I kept passing it by.  Once I saw the reviews I wished I hadn’t it sounded really good and just the type of thriller that I enjoy.  It has a cast of readers, which I sometimes like, but sometimes have a hard time telling them apart.  

From Goodreads: The Breakfast Club meets Pretty Little Liars, One of Us Is Lying is the story of what happens when five strangers walk into detention and only four walk out alive. Everyone is a suspect, and everyone has something to hide.
