This week’s topic is favorite covers!
I love covers! This weeks topic was hard to narrow down. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to do a covers that were my all time favorites, or just ones from this year or even ones that are to come. Decisions, Decisions. After much hand wringing I decided to stick with favorites from this year, most of which have been published.
Give the Dark My Love by Beth Revis
This one just had its book birthday yesterday! And isn’t its cover just gorgeous! I really liked this dark book. The mix of science and magic was superb. The characters were excellent and there were some great plot twists. If you have not read it yet get it on your TBR immediately.
Tess of the Road by Rachel Hartman
I’m not sure why I really like this cover, I just do. I like the colors and the fact that the dragon almost looks like a mountain range. And Tess looks so alone, but fierce at the same time.
Trail of Lightning by Rebecca Roanhorse
I am not usually a fan of models on covers but this one works for me. I would definitely pick this book up in a store to see what it is about based on that cover alone. I would want to know who this badass girl is and why she is standing on the cab of the truck. Also the look on the guys face makes me want to know more about him as well. As I am writing this, I’m about a third of the way into the book and just loving it.
The Heart Forger by Rin Chupeco
I like the red scroll work over the picture. It really draws attention to the skull in the center and the background picture. The cover would be quite different without it. You are also drawn to the girl on the cliff, is she going to jump? Or just admiring the view?
Dreamfall and Neverwake by Amy Plum
I saved the best for last and I’m sort of cheating here with two books, but just look what happens when you put the two covers together! I just think this is the coolest thing ever. I haven’t yet read Neverwake, but I hope to get to it soon. It will make a good scary read for October, I think. Also I can’t wait to see what the significance of the carousel is.
Those are my five favorite covers so far this year. As always please stop by the GoodReads group to check other people’s responses. I think this is the first month in awhile that I have done every prompt. I’m looking forward to seeing what next months prompts are. Thanks for stopping by and leave a comment telling me about your favorite cover so far this year.
I admit, when I first saw the Tess of the Road cover, it took me while to see the dragon. 😀 And I don’t normally like seeing humans on covers either but I love the Trail of Lightning one! The whole “standing on a car and looking off into the distance” is super dramatic and mysterious. Glad you’re loving the story!!

Just finished Tail of Lightning this morning. It was good, though the end was a bit confusing.
