October Wrap-up

monthly wrap up

Happy Halloween!

I am having a hard time believing that October is over.  This fall has been moving fast and it doesn’t look like it will slow down any time soon.  Work is better, but still not going as well as I’ld like.  I’m still finding myself coming home exhausted a couple of nights a week and if not exhausted then feeling like I got nothing done that day.  Well, hopefully things will continue to get better in that department.

My reading time certainly got better, but my audio books continue to be put on the back burner.  I am going to try and find more time for listening next month.  Especially because I want to listen to the first two books in the Dark Artifices series by Cassandra Claire before the final one comes out in December.  I am so looking forward to that book.

So here is the recap of what I read this month.  I think I wrote reviews for all of them although there are a couple that haven’t been posted yet.

YA ARC’s I read in October

Thanks to Netgalley I was able to read these ARC’s and except for one I really enjoyed them all.

I really enjoyed reading these and except for Select Few would recommend them to anyone.   A Sorrow Fierce and Falling was an excellent final book in a really good series.  Both Salt and Empress of All Seasons were stand alone books, and were very different from each other, but excellent stories in their own rights.

Middle Grade Books I read in October

Another set of awesome books and ones I am looking forward to getting for my school library and introducing them to the students.  Inkling was adorable and so full of personality.  Dragons in a Bag and The Girl with the Dragon Heart are very fun dragon stories and really make me want to be friends with a dragon.  I found The Assassination of Brangwain Spurge to be a very good read.  My review should post next week.

And all of the rest

I enjoyed The Towering Sky and thought it was a good ending to the series.  I should have the series review up soon.  Every Move is an Australian import and was a really good reimagining of the Holmes and Watson relationship.  Really had me on the edge of my seat through out the entire series.  From Twinkle, With Love was okay, but a bit of a disappointing read/ listen, it was the only audio book I finished this month.  Escaping from Houdini was my least favorite this month and maybe even this year and I was so disappointed because I had liked the first two.  Mort was a reread.  I joined Kathy@Pagesbelowthevaultedsky for their Discworld Readathon.  This is one of my favorite Discworld books so I couldn’t resist joining in the fun.  Check out her website, it is really a good one.

November TBR

I only have a couple of books from Netgalley left to read for November.

I started It Wasn’t Me a couple of days ago, and so far I am liking it.  I’m really looking forward to the other two as well.

The only two books I know of that are coming out in November that I really want to read is ArchEnemies by Marissa Meyers and Skyward by Brandon Sanderson.  Brandon is coming to Seattle on a book tour, so I have tickets to that.  I have not seen anything about Marissa although she is a local author so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I am not sure what else I will be reading next month.  I have a lot of books stacked next to my bed that are must reads, so I am hoping to get through those soon.  I hope you had a good reading month as well.

Are there any books that you are looking forward to reading in November?
