Top 5 Wednesday- Big Books on my TBR

In honor of #TomeToppleReadathon coming back this month, discuss those big books on your shelf!

I had a super busy weekend, which is why I haven’t posted anything this week.  I write all of my posts for the week on either Saturday or Sunday, but that just didn’t happen this week.  I wasn’t going to do a T5W this week because of this.  So, when I checked in to see the topics for the month and saw this one, I was like “ok I can do this one really quick.”  I was kind of surprised when I saw my list, I had no idea that some of these books were that long! Yikes! My list is from lowest to highest page count and the covers are linked to their Goodread pages. 

1. Elantris by Brandon Sanderson.  

 

I keep meaning to read some of Sanderson’s backlist books.  They all sound so good, but they are all so long.  This one weighs in at 622 pages.  I am also super excited that I am going to see him talk this weekend. He is coming to town for his newest book, Skyward (528 pages).  Really looking forward to that one.

2. War Storm by Victoria Aveyard

Confession time: I actually had this one on hold this summer at the library and when I picked it up and saw how long it was (662 pages), I was like nope, not going to do it.  I was very disappointed by the third book in the series and just wasn’t willing to spend a lot of time reading something that I might not enjoy.  I think I will read it eventually, as I am interested in how it all ends, but not just right now.

3. The Devil’s Thief by Lisa Maxwell

 

I haven’t read the first book in this series yet,  The Last Magician (528 pages), so I’m not sure how I feel about this long sequel (704 pages).  These might have to wait until the last book is out.  I have heard good things about it though.

4. Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Claire

 

This is one of my most anticipated reads of December, even though it is 720 pages long.  Right now I am rereading the first book in the series, and plan on the next one right after.  All of these books are quite long, but don’t ever feel like they are because they are just so fascinating and fast paced.

5. The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon

Yikes! I had no idea when I picked this book up on NetGalley how long it was (848 pages)  Although it won’t be the longest I have ever read, it will be a close second. (Don Quixote is the longest I’ve read I think) I’m still looking forward to it, but I will have to do some planning to make sure I have the time to get it done before it’s publication date in February.   The cover is just gorgeous too.
