Top 5 Wednesday-End of Year Reads

Top 5

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Lainey at GingerReads and Samantha at Thoughts on Tomes.  You can find the group on Goodreads.

This week’s Topic is:

Books you want to read before 2019

This one was a little hard for me as I am sort of a mood reader.  But I finally settled on these five.  These have all been released this year and are on the top of my list right now, mostly because they are all favorite authors.  I’m pretty sure I will get to all of them before the end of the year, I have what sixish weeks left,  right?  I can so do this!

As always the covers are linked to their Goodread pages.

Wildcard by Marie Lu

Wildcard

I’m about half way through my reread of Warcross as I’m writing this, so I’m pretty confident that this one will be finished by the end of the month even.  I have really enjoyed the first book and am looking forward to the second. Marie Lu always writes such interesting characters and stories. She is one of my favorite authors.

And The Ocean Was Our Sky by Patrick Ness

And The Ocean was our sky

I read Moby Dick almost thirty years ago, it is my husbands favorite book, and I can’t say I enjoyed it very much.  But when I heard about this book I knew I had to read it.  Patrick Ness always has an interesting take on stories, and although I will say I don’t always understand his books, I still enjoy them.  Plus isn’t that cover just gorgeous!

Imposters by Scott Westerfeld

Imposters

I love everything that Scott Westerfeld writes, but I have a special fondness for the Uglies series and the world he created.  I was so excited to see that he was going back to this world that I didn’t read the summaries just added them to my TBR.  Still haven’t read the summaries, so I will be going in blind which I think is best.

Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor

Muse of nightmares

This is probably one of my most anticipated reads of the year, and so far all the reviews are good, I think, I don’t know I have been avoiding reading them as I don’t want anything to spoil my take on the books.  I really want to reread the first book though, so this one might not quite make the 2018 read, but I will keep my fingers crossed.

Neverwake by Amy Plum

NeverwakeAnother one where I want to reread the first book before tackling this one.  They are fairly short books and as I remember the first one is hard to put down, so I should be able to get them done.  Although I sort of remember the first one making me not want to fall asleep because of nightmares.  Maybe I should have read these in October.  Anyways, another author who has never disappointed me, so looking forward to this one.

Five books in six weeks?  Well actually I guess 8 books if you count the rereads of three first books, but still I can totally do this.

What books do you want to read before the end of the year?
