Favorite Audiobook Narrators
The official Goodreads group for Top 5 Wednesday is one summer hiatus. I have really been enjoying coming up with my own topics, but I can’t wait for the group to start up again. I kind of miss seeing everyones answers to the various prompts. Hopefully next month they will come back strong. In the meantime here is my selection for this week.
I listen to a lot of audio books. Over the years I have collected a few names of narrators, that if I see on a book, I will immediately want to listen to it. They have all proven themselves to be wonderful narrators. They all have voices that I like listening to, as well as the ability to change their voices to accommodate the many characters in books. If you have been interested in starting to listen to audiobooks, or even if you are veteran listener, you can’t go wrong when you chose a book by one of these wonderful narrators.
Gemma Whelan
She is a new addition to my list after listening her narrate the Morrigan Crow books. She is an actress and it certainly shows in her narrations. She has a great range of voices for all of the characters, and her voice carries such emotion that you feel everything that is happening to the characters right along with them. She narrates other books as well, so there shouldn’t be too much trouble finding a genre you like in order to listen to her.
Macleod Andrews
I think I first fell in love with his voice while listening to the Reckoners books by Brandon Sanderson. What a great voice he has. He also has a great range for doing both young and old characters. He also has narrated a lot of different books in a range of genres. He also does a lot of ensemble recording, but I can always pick his voice out.
Holter Graham
When you need to listen to a sarcastic, snarky teenager there is no one better than Holter Graham to bring them to life. I really enjoyed his narration of my favorite demon Nick Gautier, in Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Chronicles of Nick books. He does a great job with the accents and switching from adult voices to teens to the myriad other creatures that Nick encounters in his adventure. I just found out that he also narrates for Nevernight books, one I have been meaning to read. Excuse me while I go put that one on hold at the library.
Rebecca Soler
Rebecca has narrated some of my favorite YA’s featuring strong female characters. I love her narrations of Cinder and the Caraval books. Just wonderful. She always delivers with an intense narration that put you right into the action. Her narrations always shows the growth in the characters as well.
David Tennant
David is another narrator that I have recently added to my list, and his is a name you may recognize as he is a pretty well know actor. He hasn’t done as many books as the others on this list, but he is certainly worth a listen. His various voices for many character are spot on and he often makes me laugh with some of the more outrageous ones. I would love to see him narrate Good Omens now that he has done the show. It would be such a hoot.
There are many more I could add to this list, so many more. I may have to do this again. Hope you enjoyed it and are now running off to your favorite place to pick up an audiobook to give one of them a listen. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
Wil Wheaton is my favorite narrator! Tho I will have to check out David Tennant 😀

I forgot about Wil, I haven’t listened to one of his books recently. Thanks for the reminder.
