Book Blogger Hop

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. It was relaunched on February 15, 2013 by Billy@Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.

This week’s prompt is:

What was the first book you read this year?

I think this can be interpreted two ways. The first being what book was the first one I finished, which maybe I started in December, or what was the first book I read cover to cover in just this last week.

As of my writing this I have only finished one book so far this year, and it is one I started in December. But I am pretty close to finishing another that I started on the 1st, so I am going to include that one as well.

I started Order of the Phoenix on Christmas and it took my about 10 days to complete it. This was mostly because of its size, (it weighs around 6 pds) and I could really only read it while sitting at my dining room table. So I only read a few chapters at a time. Also I took the time to admire the gorgeous illustrations, many of them, like the Ministry of Magic, were quite detailed. If you have not seen these you really should seek a copy out and spend some time perusing them. they really are spectacular.

I started the Last Voice You Hear on January 1st, and at this writing I’m about halfway through, so I am pretty confident that it will be done by the time this posts. I am really enjoying this slow burn mystery thriller. The main character Zoe is in a cat and mouse game with serial killer, but she doesn’t quite realize it yet.

It will be fun to see others answers to this question! Happy Reading!
