Monthly Wrap Up-November

November Wrap up

November was a slow reading month for me, I think mostly because I read several books that were over 500 pages.  It was also the month of rereads.  I enjoy rereading books, especially when a series is ending.  It makes the last book so much better because the whole story is fresh in my mind.  I read so many books in a year that I tend to forget or mix up all the story plots, so rereading is kind of essential for me.

All that said I read a total of 11 books (almost 12).  For the most part I enjoyed all of them.  It was a really good month for middle grade books especially.  So I will start there in my wrap-up.

Middle Grade Books

It wasn’t Me was a very nice retelling of The Breakfast Club which I thoroughly enjoyed.  I don’t have a review of The Basque Dragon up yet, but it was a cute adventure story.  I have been doing a book bingo with my 3rd graders and this is one of the books I read for that.  I could go on forever about Coyote Sunrise, it was such a wonderful book and don’t you just love that cover?

YA Books

Three of these were ARC’s I received from Netgalley.  The last one was a book I picked up at one of the conferences I attended this year.

Any Second is just stunning and I think my favorite book of the month (at least in the YA category). It is a book everyone should read.  Once a King was good, but I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had read the other books set in this world.  Legacy of Light was a solid ending to this exciting and interesting urban fantasy series. The review for that one should be up next week.  How to Make Out was my only disappointing read this month.  I was expecting a light and funny book and it just wasn’t.

Rereads for the month

Two of these were audiobooks, Shadowhunter Academy and Lady Midnight.  Both were well done.  Sourcery I reread as part of the Discworld Challenge being sponsored by Pages Below the Vaulted Sky.  Not one of the best books in the series but the Luggage is always good for a laugh.  I have already started Wyrd Sisters and it is one of the better ones that I am enjoying a lot.   I really enjoyed rereading Warcross, and I am almost done with Wildcard. I have seen some reviews that say the second book is better than the first, but I’m not so sure.  I have been enjoying it though.

December TBR

I did a post earlier this month for one of the Top 5 Wednesday prompts about books I want to read before the end of the year.  So far I only have one of those mostly done (Wildcard) , But I am still hopeful that I will get at least two more of these done in December, probably And the Ocean was Our Sky and Neverwake. I am currently listening to Renegades so ArchEnemies is next on my TBR.  I have one ARC still to read for December and that is The Curses.  This is the sequel to The Graces, one of my favorite books of the year.  I am trying to read more books that I am in the mood for rather than what I have to read, so even though I will read more than 5 books next month, I am not going to limit myself to a list.

Blog News

Sometime this week I hit 300 followers.

Thank You

When I started this blog two and half years ago I told myself that I would be happy with just 50 followers.  So I am flabbergasted that I have reached so far beyond that.  Thank you to all of you who have chosen to follow me and a special thank you to those of you who take the time to write such wonderful comments.

There will be some changes coming to the blog, but it will mostly be cosmetic.  I have been having some minor formatting issues and while I was trying to figure out how to fix them I discovered that my theme has been retired, which means it isn’t being updated anymore and isn’t compatible with some of the changes WordPress has made recently.  So, even though I can continue to use it, I am in search of a new theme.  So far I haven’t found one that I like as much as this one, but I am hopeful.

I think that is a wrap for this month.  I hope you had an enjoyable reading month as well.  What books are you looking forward to next month?
