Stacking the Shelves

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! And audiobooks. Don’t forget audiobooks!

In other words, if you can read it or if it can be read to you – no matter how you got it – it belongs in Stacking the Shelves.

The Stacking the Shelves meme was originally hosted at Team Tynga’s Reviews. It is currently hosted by Reading Reality.

So I went to the library today to return three books and to pick up two new ones that had been on hold for me, or at least that is what I thought! When I got to the library I found not two books waiting but four! Two more had shown up from the time I had checked this morning to when I got there. The nerve! I also added and started an audiobook this week, so I have included that. I have not added any ARCs or purchased any books, so I have least not added to those long lists of books.

Library books I have added to my bedside stack

I read the Jackaby books a few years ago and really enjoyed them. So I am pretty excited that there is a new book set in this world. Rook is a historical fantasy mystery with a great female lead and lots of fun characters that support her.

Rumors of Her Death is a short psychological thriller that sounded really good. A man trying to outrun his past starts seeing his dead lover around town. There is also a mob involved and it takes place in Australia. Sounds perfect!

Never a Hero is the second book in what I think is going to be a trilogy. I really enjoyed the first book, Only a Monster and look forward to seeing where the story goes. It is sort of a time travel fantasy mix with some great characters and an interesting plot.

The Lies of Locke Lamora is a book I have been wanting to read for a few years now. It still has huge holds on it at the library, but I finally decided to add it to my holds and I wasn’t expecting it to show up anytime soon, because I was like number 50 for only four copies when I placed the hold, but that is sometimes the mystery of holds. They show up when you least expect it.

A Blight of Blackwings is the second book in the Seven Kennings series and is the audiobook I’ve started this week. It is a high fantasy that is quite complex and is told from multiple points of view. I listened to the first book a year ago and enjoyed, but decided to put off listening to the second until we were closer to the third and final book publications. A Curse of Krakens comes out in November, so now was the time to tackle this one.

I am a little bit worried about getting all of these books done in a timely manner. Many of them have many people waiting to read them, so that means I can’t renew them. I will just have to prioritize and hope that I can read them fast enough. I hope that you are all having a wonderful weekend and are finding time to read!

Happy Reading!
