Happy Wednesday! It has been quite the week weather wise. August is usually our driest month, but this past week has been cold and wet. We even had a major thunder and lightning storm over the weekend which was a bit of fun. Of course the stormy weather just makes it easier for me to sit inside and read, no need to feel guilty that I am not enjoying the beautiful weather!
I managed to finish two audiobooks this week, and finish two books. I am so close to finishing two more, that I will in all probability finish them today. Which is good news because I have a couple of long books next on the list and I want to get started on them as soon as possible.
As always, the book titles are linked to their Goodreads pages and the ones with an * are linked to my reviews.
What am I currently reading?

The Naming Song is quite good, but on the longish side. The pacing is also a bit slow through the first half, so it was hard to keep moving through it. I will probably be finishing this one today.
Divine Rivals has been a lot of fun. I am really enjoying the characters and the story is a lot of fun too. I am excited to see how this one ends. This is another one that I am very close to finishing.
The Maidens is my current audiobook and this one I am actually starting today. I have been wanting to read this one for months now and I am excited to finally get started on it.
What have I recently finished reading?

*We Solve Murders was such a joy to read. I really liked all of the characters, good and bad, and the ending was quite a surprise as well.
*Break To You was also really good. This one is a YA romance but set in a juvenile detention center, which I thought made it quite a unique love story.
*Assassins Anonymous is my favorite read so far this month. It was dark yet funny, and also deeply moving. The reader was also excellent.
One of Our Kind was interesting, but the pacing was too slow. There needed to be a bigger build up to the ending as well.
What will I read next?

The Thirteenth Child is my last ARC for the month. I am so excited to finally get to read this one. I love this author and the story sounds wonderful.
Middle of the Night is the next library book I need to pick up. This is another author whose books I just love and I know that this will be one that will keep me up at night.
Apprentice to the Villain is one of my most anticipated reads for the summer and I was so happy when my hold came through this week. This will be my next audiobook.

As I was finishing up the post, I kind of noticed that all of the books that I will be starting soon are dark mysteries, or at least dark books. I might decide to switch out my audiobooks so I have at least one light read going. But I will decide that when I get going on them. They might not be as dark as I think they will be. Until next time…
