Stacking the Shelves

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! And audiobooks. Don’t forget audiobooks!

In other words, if you can read it or if it can be read to you – no matter how you got it – it belongs in Stacking the Shelves.

The Stacking the Shelves meme was originally hosted at Team Tynga’s Reviews. It is currently hosted by Reading Reality.

It has been a couple of quiet weeks lately as far as acquiring books for my stacks. But this week I had three books show up at the library and I had several ARCs approved on Netgalley. I am still waiting and hoping for one more ARC I requested, so fingers crossed that I get good news on that one soon.

Library books I have added to my bedside stack

An Instruction in Shadow is the second book in a really good urban fantasy series that I don’t think has gotten the attention it deserves. Read my review of the first book here, to see what I am talking about.

Bane of Asgard is also the second book in a series or maybe it is a duology, I’m not sure. As you can probably guess from the title is based on Norse mythology and it is awesome. Here is my review for the first book, Children of Ragnarok if you want to know more.

A Rival Most Vial is a book that I have been seeing some pretty good reviews for. So I have decided to give it a chance.

ARCs I’ve added to my Netgalley account

The Fourth Consort (2/25/25) is a standalone science fiction book by an author whose Mickey 7 books I really enjoyed. This one sounds just as good as the other books, so I am giving it a try.

This Book will Bury Me (3/25/25) is another standalone, but this time a mystery. I read another book by this author and liked it enough to give this one a chance.

Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil (6/10/25) is probably my most anticipated book for 2025. I just loved Addie Larue and this is set in that same world so I am really excited to read this one. Just wish we had a beautiful cover to show, but that hasn’t been revealed yet. Soon I hope.

The Bug Bandits (May 6, 2025) is the first book in a middle grade series, that sounded super cute. My nephew and his daughter are super into bugs, so I thought of them when I requested it. I don’t read as much middle grade books anymore, and I sort of miss it.

I think this might be it for a couple of weeks for this weekly post. I only have one more book on hold and I don’t think it is coming anytime soon. This is good news though as it gives me time to catch up on the ones I currently have. Until next time…

Happy Reading!
