Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! And audiobooks. Don’t forget audiobooks!
In other words, if you can read it or if it can be read to you – no matter how you got it – it belongs in Stacking the Shelves.
The Stacking the Shelves meme was originally hosted at Team Tynga’s Reviews. It is currently hosted by Reading Reality.
Once again all of my library holds are showing up at once. I had four waiting for me when I made my weekly trip with two more on their way. Yikes! Two of them are kind of long, which makes me a bit nervous about getting them done this month. But I am looking forward to reading them all at some point. No new ARCs to report or Audiobooks. I do have a couple of audiobooks on hold on Libby that are saying available soon, so probably by next week I will have something to report. I also purchased two books this week, but one is a pre-order so I won’t talk about that till it comes.
Library books I have added to my bedside stack

Ghost Business is the next book in the Boneyard Key series. This is a contemporary romance with a touch of supernatural, which means the ghosts are real. I enjoyed the first book so I am looking forward to this one. Still don’t like these covers though.
Hot Wax is a book that I really want to read. I loved the author’s first book, If We Were Villains, and have heard good things about this one. I didn’t realize how long it was though. This is a mystery thriller with some horror added in. Perfect for an October read.
Dungeon Crawler Carl is the only book I’m not sure about. I’m buckling under the hype and going to give it a try. I have read similar books to this and have enjoyed them, so hopefully this one will come through for me. I also recently learned that this is a local author, so I always like to give the locals a chance.
The Physics of Superheroes Hollywood Edition is my nonfiction read for the month. I was horrible at physics in high school, but this one seems pretty approachable. Superheroes have always intrigued me with their melding of science and fantasy. It will be interesting to see what the movie writer’s get right or wrong.
ARCs I’ve added to my Netgalley account
No new ARCs this week, which is a good thing.
Audiobooks
No Audiobooks this week either, but hopefully one will show up soon as I am half way through my current one.
Purchased Books

The Sunbaker
I saw a post about this book on Book’d Out earlier in the week and it sounded like it would be something I would enjoy. It is a murder mystery, but the ‘detective’ character is a journalist. It also sounds like it is very humorous. I totally missed that this was the second book in a series though. But I think it will be ok, none of the reviews mentioned it being an issue. If I like enough I will probably get the first book too.

That’s it for this week’s post. I had better get to my reading as I have a lot of books stacked on my bedside table right now and I don’t want it to collapse under the weight! Until next time…
I gave in to all the hype about Dungeon Crawler Carl too. I did enjoy it but not enough that I want to continue the series. I’m glad that I read it though and at least I know what people are talking about now. 😃

I’m thinking that is what will happen to me as well. I just don’t have time to invest in a new series where the books are so long either.

I gave into the hype and listened to Dungeon Crawler Carl a few months ago. The narrators do a great job, Princess Donut who is Carl’s cat is especially good. Fun listen. It was my first time reading that genre and I am glad I did. I read book 2 as well.

I have heard really good things about the audiobook and if my library had a copy I would definitely listen to it. Alas I will have to be satisfied by the physical book.
