The first quarter of the year has ended and it is time to look back at some of the books I have read and enjoyed. I have been having a really good year with all of my books. Because of this and because I have read so many books so far this year, I am using the term of first very loosely. I wanted to be able to pick books from all three months, not just January, so I found firsts for each month. I also tried to limit the books to ones published this year, but didn’t totally limit myself to that. This is my fourth year doing this tag and if you want to see my previous years posts, just click on the links below.

First Books I Read

After the Fall is an outstanding book by this favorite author.
Last One Out is a very quiet thriller about a dying small town.
The Geomagician was a cozy fantasy based on a real person.
First Books I Reviewed

A Gift Before Dying was a very dark mystery thriller set in the Arctic.
A Ghastly Catastrophe is the next book in the marvelous Veronica Speedwell mysteries.
Red Star Rebels is a fun YA science fiction thriller set on Mars.
First Book I Added to My Shelf

Swordheart is the only book I purchased this year. It is a deluxe edition and probably my favorite book by this author.
First Debut Books

Strange Animals is an other wordly book full of strange and fascinating animals.
Salvagia is a great dystopian mystery that takes place in a Florida practically underwater.
The Murder At World’s End was a great cozy historical mystery with a marvelous detective duo.
First New to Me Author
(That I will read again)

First Lie Wins is a great thriller where everyone is not who they seem
Climate of Chaos is a dystopian set in my hometown of Seattle.
Mad Mabel is a very different kind of mystery. I adored the characters and the dual timeline.
First Book by an Author I’ve Read Before

Alchemy of Secrets is a great start to a new urban fantasy series.
Her Last Breath is a mystery thriller that will leave you breathless and guessing til the end.
Snake-Eater is more about finding your place in the world, than a horror book, but I loved it.
First Book That Slayed Me

I’m Afraid You’ve Got Dragons is a fun fantasy that is also a little bit on the dark side.
The Escape Game is a YA mystery thriller set in a reality game show based on escape rooms.
Hench is a hilarious look at what it takes to keep the evil villains in business.
First (almost) 5 Star Reads

All of my five star reads made it onto a list above, so these are books that I also really enjoyed these last three months.
Another Time, Another Place is the 12th book in this series. I laughed so much while reading it.
Anatomy of an Alibi is such a twisty murder mystery that had me guessing to the end.
Platform Decay is the eighth book in the Murderbot diaries. It is always a pleasure to spend time reading these books.

Until next time….
