May 22nd: Emerald Covers
— May’s birthstone is emerald so talk about those emerald covers. Not just green. EMERALD.

This week’s topic was a little bit tough, I had to decide exactly what shade of green was emerald.  I more or less decided that it meant bright green.  But then it was hard to find covers that matched that.  All I will say is I did my best to find emerald covers.

The End of Oz by Danielle Paige (Book 4)

The End of Oz

When I think of emerald I always think of the Emerald City from the Wizard of Oz.  This cover shows both that and the color.  Not my favorite of the series, but the cover was cool.  The green looks brighter on the book.

Infamous by Sherrilyn Kenyon (Book 3)

Infamous

I just loved this series (except for the last one, such a disappointment).  But this one was a good one.  Love the New Orleans setting, loved the friendship between Nick and Caleb. Then there are the demons, vampires, were-animals of all types and so much more.  The sarcastic wit and snarky remarks by all of the characters was always good for a laugh.

Keeper of the Bees by Meg Kassel (Book 2)

Keeper of the bees

This cover is maybe on the lighter side of emerald, but It is such a pretty cover.  Even though I don’t like bees, I really enjoyed this book.  You don’t have to have read the first book in order to enjoy this one, but it does help.  I really enjoyed learning more about the curse and the love story was good too.

Thunderhead by Neil Schusterman (Book 2)

Thunderhead

This one is also on the lighter side, but with some dark emerald.  The cover is also dull, in other words, not shiny which makes it look less like an emerald, but this doesn’t detract from the colors.  Plus this was such an awesome book that I had to include it.  Loved this one as much as the first and can’t wait for the conclusion!

Stormcaster by Cinda Williams Chima (Book 3)

Stormcaster

I still haven’t read this.  It is on my summer reading list for sure, but first I have to reread the first two books.  I really liked the first two, but I decided to hold off reading this one until the last book came out, so I could read straight through all four of them.  I’m not supper fond of the covers for this series, but this one looks like emeralds to me.

So what do you think?  Do these covers look like emeralds?  Do you have a favorite green/emerald cover?
