The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. It was relaunched on February 15, 2013 by Billy@Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.
This week’s topic is:
Have you ever been enticed to read more by an author by a book?
Submitted by Billy @ coffee addicted writer
All the time! If I read a book and fall in love with it, or at least enjoy it an immense amount, I look to see what other books the author has written. I then pretty much read any and all books by this author I can get my hands on. Of course sometimes this ends up with my brain going into author overload and I find myself maybe not enjoying the books as much as I could if I took breaks between them. But I am aware of this issue, so I have learned to deal with it.
Debut authors are a bit tougher. I sometimes forget how much I enjoyed their first book by the time the second one comes around. This used to be a huge issue before Goodreads, because now I can add the next book to the To Be Read list, so I am less likely to forget an author.
I have also been occasionally inspired to read a book that is mentioned in the story I am currently reading. This usually only occurs with contemporaries, where a character will mention a book that is well know, or at least to other people. There have been a couple of times that I have been intrigued enough to look this book up and even read it. So that is a win for everyone.
On a related note, I really wish that NetGalley would make it easier to see the author’s names when I am looking for books. This is mostly in the dashboard mode, when you only see those thumbnail pictures. They always put the title and genres under the picture but no author name. And you can’t always read it in the picture. I know I have missed a couple of books I would have requested, simply because I didn’t see the author’s name.
When I first read this prompt I didn’t think I would have that much to say about it, but 20 minutes later here we are. I am looking forward to seeing what other have to say about this topic. Until next week….
