GoodReads Monday

This weekly meme was started by @Lauren’s Page Turners. It is now being hosted by Budget Tales Book Blog. To participate, choose a random book from your GoodReads TBR and show it off. Which sounds easy enough until you have to decide how to choose that book! I think I will use a different way each week, like picking a color or number of pages. I will let you know each week how I chose the book and then something interesting about it, like how it ended up on the list or why I want to read it. Got it? Okay let’s get started.

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend and are having a great start to your week. Today’s book pick is from a favorite local author of mine. I have not read all of her books, (sorry I have no excuse for that) but the ones I have I have enjoyed immensely. She is one of those authors who writes books in lots of different genres, so they are all fresh and different from each other. This one happens to be a horror book, which is not one of my favorite genres, but I am ok with that. I will still be reading this one as it sounds fabulous.

The Drowning House by Cherie Priest

Publication Date: July 23, 2024

Summary from Goodreads:

A violent storm washes a mysterious house onto a rural Pacific Northwest beach, stopping the heart of the only woman who knows what it means. Her grandson, Simon Culpepper, vanishes in the aftermath, leaving two of his childhood friends to comb the small, isolated island for answers―but decades have passed since Melissa and Leo were close, if they were ever close at all.

Now they’ll have to put aside old rivalries and grudges if they want to find or save the man who brought them together in the first place―and on the way they’ll learn a great deal about the sinister house on the beach, the man who built it, and the evil he’s bringing back to Marrowstone Island.

From award-winning author Cherie Priest comes a deeply haunting and atmospheric horror-thriller that explores the lengths we’ll go to protect those we love.

I just love the idea of a whole house washing up on a beach somewhere! This just sounds so interesting, that I can’t wait to read it. I love that cover too. It really captures the PNW coast so well.

Do any of your favorite authors have a new book coming out this summer that you are excited to read? Let me know in the comments.

Until next time…

Happy Reading!
