Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, whether it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in a physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! And audiobooks. Don’t forget audiobooks!
In other words, if you can read it or if it can be read to you – no matter how you got it – it belongs in Stacking the Shelves.
The Stacking the Shelves meme was originally hosted at Team Tynga’s Reviews. It is now hosted by Reading Reality.
Happy Saturday and welcome to my Stacking the Shelves post this week. I hope that you are all having a wonderful day.
I’m going to do something a little bit different today in that I am going to talk about a bookstore I visited in Connecticut last week. Syd’s Book Shack and Boutique is a wonderful used book store that you really should visit if you ever find yourself near Madison, Ct.
What makes them so unique is that they have a mission. They are a nonprofit organization that uses the money to purchase ‘talkers’ (by that I mean ipads and such) for nonverbal children whose parents don’t have the means to get one for them. As a former special ed teacher I find this a wonderful project and one that I fully support. If you can’t visit, they do have a donation page as well.
They have a wonderful and varied selection of books that covered all of the age ranges and genres. My niece bought a full set of the Galaxy Zack books for her 7 year old. She also found a book by a PNW author I had not heard of. I bought two books, one which was a ‘Blind Date’ book that they had at the counter.

Isn’t their little wrapping cover adorable? It really caught my eye when I was at the counter and once I read the list I just knew I had to take a chance on this blind date. It also came with a little flashlight and a tea bag. The torn page on the right was on the back of the wrapping. I don’t know yet if it has something to do with the book or not, but it added to the presentation nicely.
I was a little anxious that I might have already read the book, but was pleasantly surprised when I opened my blind date. I am not at all familiar with this book or the author, but Intimacies sounds like a book that I will enjoy as it is a mystery that involves an interpreter who gets involved with something way over her head.

The other book I purchased was the first book in a mystery series. I have heard of Jo Nesbo, but I have never read one of his books. (At least I don’t think so) The Bat is a mystery thriller that is set in Australia, but features a detective from Norway. I loved how it all sounded.
I had totally meant to start one of these two books on my way back from Connecticut, I even had one of them in my backpack ready to go. But as I sat on the plane, I started to think about the rather tall stack of library books sitting on my bedside table and started to feel a little guilty about starting a new book. So I opted to just read the ebook I had been reading, listening to my audiobook and watching a movie ( the newest Ghostbusters movie which was a lot of fun) on my trip home. I do hope to get to both of these two books soon though.
That is it for this week’s Stacking the Shelves. I hope that you are having a wonderful weekend. I am currently enjoying hearing and watching the Blue Angels fly over my house. They are here in Seattle for a show which is always a lot of fun. Until next time…
