This weekly meme was started by @Lauren’s Page Turners. It is now being hosted by Budget Tales Book Blog. To participate, choose a random book from your GoodReads TBR and show it off. Which sounds easy enough until you have to decide how to choose that book! I think I will use a different way each week, like picking a color or number of pages. I will let you know each week how I chose the book and then something interesting about it, like how it ended up on the list or why I want to read it. Got it? Okay let’s get started.
November is here, which means that 2025 is just around the corner! So I thought it would be fun to start taking a look at some of my most anticipated reads for next year. Today’s pick is the third book in my favorite cozy fantasy series. I did get an ARC for it, so I hope to have it on my monthly TBR in January.
Emily Wilde’s Compendium of Lost Tales by Heather Fawcett
Publication Date: February 11, 2025
Summary from Goodreads:

Emily Wilde has spent her life studying faeries. A renowned dryadologist, she has documented hundreds of species of Folk in her Encyclopaedia of Faeries. Now she is about to embark on her most dangerous academic project studying the inner workings of a faerie realm—as its queen.
Along with her former academic rival—now fiancé—the dashing and mercurial Wendell Bambleby, Emily is immediately thrust into the deadly intrigues of Faerie as the two of them seize the throne of Wendell’s long-lost kingdom, which Emily finds a beautiful nightmare filled with scholarly treasures.
Emily has been obsessed with faerie stories her entire life, but at first she feels as ill-suited to Faerie as she did to the mortal How can an unassuming scholar such as herself pass for a queen? Yet there is little time to settle in, for Wendell’s murderous stepmother has placed a deadly curse upon the land before vanishing without a trace. It will take all of Wendell’s magic—and Emily’s knowledge of stories—to unravel the mystery before they lose everything they hold dear.

So I just noticed when I added the picture that there are eyeballs in the plants, kind of creepy. Anyways, I think I just might reread the first two books before taking on this one as I think it might be the last book, but I’m not sure. Let me know if you know if this is the last one for sure. Also let me know what books that are being published next year that you are super excited about. Until next time…
I have been waiting for this one! I have loved the series so far. I will be keeping an eye out for it on Netgalley and then hoping that I get accepted if it turns up on there!!
Have a great week!
