A 2024 Challenge Update!

This is my final update for the year 2024! I am very pleased to say that I completed all of my challenges this year. All of them were a lot of fun, and the nonfiction challenge did take me out of my comfort zone a bit. But it did get me in the habit of reading more nonfiction so for that I am grateful.

Buzzword Reading Challenge

October’s Prompt: titles that include a relation of any kind

My Best Friend’s Exorcism was a really fun read. I loved all of the 80’s nostalgia.

November’s prompt: titles that include the word “only.”

It’s Only a Game: was pretty good. Still needed a little something to put it into the thriller category. I never felt like any of the characters were truly in trouble.

December Prompt: titles that include any holiday related words.

Everyone This Christmas Has a Secret was perfect for this prompt. I actually read three holiday books, but this was the best title for the prompt.

Epic Reading Challenge

October’s Prompt: Read a banned or challenged book

Lula Dean’s Little Library of Banned Books was a little bit of a stretch for the prompt. It was a book about banned books, so I counted it.

November’s prompt: A Graphic Novel

In Real Life was a graphic novel that I had lying around that I bought simply because it was written by Cory Doctorow. Graphic Novels are not my thing, but I liked this one.

December’s Prompt: A Book by a Debut Author

The Last Phi Hunter was the final choice for this one. I’m technically not done with it as this posts, but I will be before the end of the month.

NonFiction reading Challenge

This one doesn’t have a monthly prompt, you just read nonfiction books based on a list of categories.

Unruly: The Ridiculous History of England’s Kings and Queens (History) was one of my favorite audiobooks of the second half of the year. What would otherwise be a rather stuffy read was quite entertaining when done by a comedian.

84 Charing Cross Road (Memoir) was delightful, but it would have been more fun if it was a little bit longer. I also think there were maybe letters left out that would have been nice to see.

How To Talk to Your Cat About Gun Safety (Pets?/Satire) doesn’t really belong in the pets category as it was satire, but that wasn’t a choice. This was amusing and I loved the photos.

For those of you who follow me regularly you might notice that I have left off my picture challenges in this post. My final picture doesn’t post until tomorrow, so I decided to leave that one off this time.

I will be doing both the Nonfiction Challenge and the Buzzword Cover Challenge in 2025. I am still looking for a good third challenge to do. So if you have any suggestions let me know. I am so looking forward to next year’s challenges! I will probably do an official post on all of my challenges in the next week or two, once I have settled on the final one.
