My August 2025 TBR

Netgalley can be a dangerous place sometimes! I try really hard to limit my ARCs for any particular month to only four or occasionally five books. But somehow I have ended up with eight ARCs that I need to read that are coming out in September. Now I think some of how I ended up with that many is my reasoning that two of them are novellas and one is a middle grade, so they shouldn’t take that long to read. So really page count wise I’m only looking at maybe five books? I love how I am trying to reason this one out! Anyways, here are the eight ARCs and then three other books I plan to read this month for my challenges.

ARCs I need to read

A Land so Wide is one I am really excited about. I love this author’s works and this one sounds really good. It is a dark fantasy set in the Canadian wilderness.

To Clutch a Razor is the first novella on the list. It is the second book in a series, and I think I will have to reread the first book, When Among Crows, first. It is an urban fantasy.

The Summer War is the other novella and is by a favorite author. This fantasy is about a young witch who accidentally curses her brother.

Moonleaper is a middle grade book by one of my favorite authors of that genre. This is about time travel, but by using a phone. Interesting.

Thief of Night is the second book in the Charlatan duology. The first book, Book of Night, came out almost three years ago. So a reread is in the works for me.

A Killer Wedding just sounded too good to pass up. It is also a debut so I wanted to give it a chance. I just love that cover!

Guilty by Definition is a book I have been wanting to read since I first learned about it last year when it came out in Britain. It is finally being published here in the states and of course I had to get the ARC.

The Impossible Fortune is the newest book in the Thursday Murder Club series so of course I had to say yes to this one. Can’t wait to hang out with the gang again and help them solve another mystery.

Other books I plan to read

The Road Trip is an older romance that I have had on my TBR for awhile. I picked this one for the Buzzword Cover Challenge, as I needed a book with transportation on the cover. Plus I always love a good road trip book.

TreeNotes will be my nonfiction book for the month. I wanted something a little bit lighter this month and thought this one looked interesting.

The Seven Dials Mystery is one I have picked for the 52 Book Club’s challenge. I needed a book that was in the public domain, and I didn’t want to reread any classics, so thought I would give Agatha Christie another chance. I am doing the audiobook this time, so maybe that will help.

I hope to squeeze in a few more books this month, but not sure what most of them will be. I have at least two rereads that I plan on doing, but other than that we will have to see where the book gods take me. Until next time…

Happy Reading!
