Stacking the Shelves

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! And audiobooks. Don’t forget audiobooks!

In other words, if you can read it or if it can be read to you – no matter how you got it – it belongs in Stacking the Shelves.

The Stacking the Shelves meme was originally hosted at Team Tynga’s Reviews. It is currently hosted by Reading Reality.

Kind of a slow week. I didn’t have any physical holds come in at the library, but my audiobook holds have been crazy. I think since Wednesday I had 5 show up. I deferred three of them and kept 2. The last one is one of my most anticipated reads for the summer/year and I was afraid with as long as the holds list is I wouldn’t get it again until sometime in the fall. I was almost tempted to stop the book I am currently listening to and start that one, but decided to wait.

Library books I have added to my bedside stack

No physical book from the library this week. I did make my weekly trip, as I had to return some books, but as I meandered around the stacks, nothing peaked my interest. I have been on the hunt for a good book for one of my challenges, so that has been my focus, and nothing met the mark for that prompt. So sadly, I left empty handed.

ARCs I’ve added to my Netgalley account

I adore Eoin Colfer’s books and when I saw Firefox Moon, I knew I had to snatch it up. It is a sequel, but it sounds like it can stand on its own. I will probably read the first book before this one. This is a middle grade fantasy about a young girl who becomes the guardian of a magical woods hidden in the middle of London. Many want to get their hands on the magic in these woods including, witches, a cursed queen and a pack of wolves. Plus there is a giant ground sloth that apparently is the size of a Prius. Sounds like it will be very entertaining.

Audiobooks

Alone is a survival adventure that is written in verse. I picked this one up because of a challenge prompt. Why do all of the challenges have a book in verse prompt!??? Not my favorite genre, in fact I wouldn’t read it at all if it wasn’t for challenge prompts. Which I guess is the point. Anyways. One way I can manage these types of books is to listen to them. I find it much easier then looking at the words on the page. It was actually the second book in this series that caught my eye, but this sounded just as interesting.

I am so excited to start Accomplice to the Villain! I have been waiting all year for this one to come out. This series has been so much fun and I just love the audiobooks. Em Eldridge does a fantastic job of narrating these books. She gets all of the snarky dialogue just right. I am hoping that this one reveals a bit more about Kingsley the frog and his true identity. I just break out into a smile every time I think about starting this book! Plus that cover is just the cutest! I love seeing little Kingsley with his signs up in the corner. Can’t wait!

That is it for this week’s post. Hopefully next week I will have a few more books to report. I am beginning to look a little bit on Netgalley again for the end of the year and early next year releases. I have request one that comes out in January that is part of a series that I just love and have been waiting a long time for this next addition. Fingers crossed I get approved. Until next time…

Happy Reading!
