First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?
- Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
- Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
- Finally… reveal the book!
Got it? Okay let’s go! Here is the quote…
“There were severed heads hanging from the ceiling… and one of them belonged to Trystan Maverine.”
Do you know this one?

This is from the first chapter, not the prologue…

This one was more interesting and attention getting

Have you guessed?

Yes? No?

Give up?

Here it is!

Accomplice to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer

I was hoping to be able to write the review for this one today, but alas I’m not quite finished yet. So this will have to do. I am really enjoying this one. I’m so happy that we are getting chapters from Kingsley! I just love them. If you haven’t yet read this zany, funny romantasy, you really must. It is a great summer read.
