Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! And audiobooks. Don’t forget audiobooks!
In other words, if you can read it or if it can be read to you – no matter how you got it – it belongs in Stacking the Shelves.
The Stacking the Shelves meme was originally hosted at Team Tynga’s Reviews. It is currently hosted by Reading Reality.
Happy Solstice to you all! I hope the world is treating you well. I have lots of books to talk about this week. I have added many books to my library pile, a couple of ARCs, and a book that I received at the holiday get-together I had with my librarian friends. Every year we do a white elephant book exchange, and this year I was thrilled that the book I brought for the exchange was the one everyone wanted. It was stolen several times. It was “The Lost Bookshop” in case you were wondering.
Library books I have added to my bedside stack

Kills Well With Others is a book I meant to read way back in the Spring when it first came out. I enjoyed the first book and I’m looking forward to reading this one.
The Brides of High Hill is another retelling of Bluebeard, I think. It is also part of a series, but I don’t think you have to read them in order. At least I hope not. This was a Hugo Award nominee for best novella this year.
What Stalks the Deep is the third book in the Sworn Soldier series. I kind of enjoy these books even though they are kind of creepy and those covers really creep me out.
The Tusk of Extinction won the Hugo Award this year for best novella. I always try to read at least a couple of the Hugo award books and this one sounded really interesting.
ARCs I’ve added to my Netgalley account

Meet Peter Key: self-proclaimed “laziest private investigator in Texas” (it’s harder than it looks), full-time bisexual, dedicated stoner, and the surprised recipient of a windfall inheritance from an uncle he barely knew. Peter’s life was a mess before he became the owner of a dilapidated house in one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Austin, but now he has a mountain of debt to deal with—and pushy realtors popping up on every corner to convince him to sell the land while the market is hot.
But Peter doesn’t like to be pushed around. And when he discovers a bag full of cash and a suggestion that his uncle’s death might not have been an accident, he starts asking questions. When they said “Keep Austin Weird,” they weren’t joking. Just about everyone Peter meets seems to have a hidden agenda, and he soon finds himself pulled into a lethal game where not everybody plays by the rules. Fortunately for Peter, he’s never been a rule follower anyway.
Sexy, suspenseful, and packed with Austin’s quirks, Killer Vibes is the start of an iconic new series with a singular, unforgettable cast of characters.
Killer Vibes is a book that just sort of caught my eye. I first saw it in a newsletter and it sounded like my kind of book. I also think that cover is very eye catching and sets the tone for the book.

Elegy Ahn did not ask for destiny to find her.
She is happy with her life as a soldier, defending her small country from the Talusar, a powerful nation who worships a deadly Fever. A fever that blesses half of its victims with mysterious gifts.
But then she’s summoned to hear a prophecy–her, and the most ruthless of Talusar generals, Rava Vidar. Brought face to face, they learn that one of them will lead their people to victory over the other…but they don’t know which. And at the center of both of their fates: a man. A man that, Elegy is told, she will fall in love with.
In just one day, Elegy’s old life–her job, her purpose, and her future–is over. She and Rava are destined to collide, with the fate of their nations hanging in the balance. And when they do, only one will be left standing.
Elegy intends to make sure it’s her.
I almost always enjoy Ms Roth’s books and Seek the Traitor’s Son sounds like a good one. I really like that cover as well. Very intriguing.
Audiobooks
No new audiobooks this week yet. I have one on hold that has been telling me that it will be available soon for over a week now. I just know it will show up right after this posts. Whatever! 🙄
Gift Books

Sea of Tranquility is the book I received at the holiday book exchange. I really struggled with Station Eleven, but I think maybe I did the audiobook, which may have added to my issues with it. I am willing to give this one a try though as I know many people love this author’s work.

Looking forward to reading these. I hope you all have some delightful books to read this week. Until next time…
That was a successful library visit. Have you thought about joining my Speccy Fiction Challenge? You’d cover three categories just with those 😉

I was thinking about it, but haven’t made my final selections for all of my challenges for next year.
