2025 New Releases I Didn’t Get To …

But still want to read!

At the end of the year I had 38 books in my Goodreads 2025-TBR list. These were books that were released last year that I really wanted to read, but somehow didn’t (see #2 above). The reasons why I didn’t get to them vary, but have mostly to do with time. There just isn’t enough of it is there? So here are 12 of those 38 books that I really want to read and hope to get to this year.

Fantasy

Stone & Sky is the 10th book in the River of London series and it has been three years since the last book. I keep thinking I need to read the whole series again, before this one, but maybe not.

Snake-Eater is one I really meant to read, but alas I didn’t have the time. Also my library took forever to order it! That cover kind of creeps me out too, so that might be it as well.

Queen Demon was one that I just kept forgetting about. I love this author’s work and I must hang my head in shame that I didn’t get to this one.

In all honesty I did start listening to The Outcast Mage, but for whatever reason the audiobook just wasn’t working for me. I did like it and want to continue it, but not just yet.

Once A Villain is the final book in the Monsters series and I have no excuse why I didn’t get to it this year. I do want to finish the series though.

The Knight and the Moth was a book I hesitated to add to my TBR even though I loved her other series. But I started seeing such good reviews for it, that eventually I added it. But didn’t get a chance to read it.

Mysteries/Thrillers/Scifi

The Murder at World’s End was another I was much interested in until I started seeing all of the great reviews for it. I hope to read this one soon.

Miss Winter in the Library with a Knife went on the list just because of that title. I love it. Then I kept seeing some great reviews for it, so it made the final cut for this post.

King of Ashes is another one that I really wanted to read last year, but just didn’t get to it. This is another author whose work I enjoy, so no real excuse not to read it.

Climate of Chaos takes place in Seattle and it is a dystopian. That ticks so many boxes for me that I know it is one that I will enjoy once I get to it.

Salvagia is another dystopian science fiction that I ran across on a favorite author’s blog. So many things about this one sounded good that I really want to read it.

Tourist Season is one I’m not sure how it got on my list in the first place. But it still sounds good, although I’ve been seeing in the reviews that it has a whopper of a cliffhanger, so I might wait till the second book is out to read it.

I’m hoping that putting these down in writing here will motivate me to actually read these. I have at least two on hold right now so those will probably get read, but hopefully I will get to the others as well.

  1. I’ve read The Knight and the Moth and for me it was a surprise… Not saying in what way, because I don’t want to (de)influence you too much.

  2. Good Luck with reading all of these during 2026. There are a couple that I really enjoyed like Murder at the World’s End which was brilliant. Of course, while you’re reading these, there will be 2026 releases to catch up. One of the best things about being a book lover is that we will never run out of books to read. πŸ˜ƒ
