A review for the newest book by R.F. Kuang coming out in August. Katabasis is an interesting and enjoyable read about two graduate students who enter Hell in order to retrieve their recently deceased professor. The author has written a fascinating version of hell populated by interesting characters.
A review for the adult fantasy novel Blood of Hercules by Jasmine Mas. A dystopian world with greek mythology has at its core a young woman trying to survive when everything is stacked against her and things are not what they seem. I am not a huge fan of the book, but I liked the audiobook.
Hello, hello! Today I am bringing you two short reviews for two fantasy books I read this week. The first one is the sequel to the Runestone Saga series by one of my favorite authors. The second is a middle grade fantasy about a young boys adventure in a magical world adjacent to ours where he meets all kinds of wonderful creatures and an intriguing girl who can fly. A review for the soon to be released second book in the Witch’s Compendium of Monsters, Monstrous Nights by Genoveva Dimova. I enjoyed this one just as much as the first book. I am looking forward to reading more books by this author.
A review for the third and final book in the Ink & Sigil series by Kevin Hearne. Candle and Crow was a fine ending to an interesting series. The magic of ink and sigils is a very interesting one and I was sad to see that part of the story end. Overall the ending was pretty much what I was expecting and I found it to be satisfying.
A review for the newest book by Judy I Lin, Song of the Six Realms. I totally picked up this book because of that cover! I didn’t end up loving this book, but I did like it enough to consider reading her other series.
