A review of the upcoming second book in the Marty Hench series, the bezzle, by Cory Doctorow. A scathing study of policies and politics in the early 2000’s that will make you think even while it make you mad.

I have been catching up on some of the books that I wanted to read in 2023 but didn’t get around to for various reasons. Last week I managed to get two of them done, The Seven Year Slip by Ashley poston and The Witchwood Knot by Olivia Atwater. These are two very different stories, but both have fantasy elements. I liked both of them, but was a bit surprised that I didn’t fall in love with either of them.
A review for the audiobook of Champion of Fate by Kendare Blake, read by Shayna Small. A wonderfully complex story of found family, a secret magical order and beautifully written characters, than you really should give this book a chance.
A review for the new book by John Scalzi, Starter Villain. A hilarious look at modern villainy with great characters, spy cats, unionized dolphins and of course an island volcano lair.
A review for the second book in the Sisters of the Salt series. The first book, House of Salt and Sorrows was one of my favorites back in 2019. I think this one will be one of my favorites this year as well.
A weekly meme in which I pick a book off of my Goodreads want to read list and talk about. This week’s pick is a sequel novella set in the world of Margaret Rogerson’s Sorcery of Thorns.
