A review for the first book in a new series by Robert Jackson Bennett, The Tainted Cup, coming out in early February. This engaging mystery is set in an amazing world unlike anything I have read before with likable characters and a series of murders that uncovers a scheme that encompasses the whole Empire.
I have been catching up on some of the books that I wanted to read in 2023 but didn’t get around to for various reasons. Last week I managed to get two of them done, The Seven Year Slip by Ashley poston and The Witchwood Knot by Olivia Atwater. These are two very different stories, but both have fantasy elements. I liked both of them, but was a bit surprised that I didn’t fall in love with either of them.
A review for the new novella by Premee Mohamed, The Butcher of the Forest. This is a dark fairy tale with an older protagonist who has to go into a dangerous forest to rescue the children of a Tyrant.
A review for the second book in the Ernest Cunningham series, Everyone on this Train is a Suspect. Follow Ernest as he travels through the Australian Outback solving murders along the way.
Just a quick wish to all of you for a happy and glorious new year!
