This week’s top 5 is Book Covers we would like to be transported into. I guess this could be interpreted a couple of different ways, but my interpretation is that I can see enough of the world on the cover and it makes me want to step right in and join in the story.
The very first book I thought of when I read this was The Shadow Cipher by Laura Ruby. I totally bought this book based on that alternate New York on the cover. It just looked so amazing that I had to find out more about it.
My next favorite would be Die for Me by Amy Plum. I’ve always loved Paris, and I have visited for awhile, but would love to go back for a longer time period. Also, I wouldn’t mind meeting some cute and cuddly revenants.
Then I got a little stuck on the next one. I have always wanted to travel into space. I just think it would be so cool to see planets and stars and being weightless could be fun for a while. So I had to think back on some science fiction covers that were awesome and up came Starflight by Melissa Landers. Not only does this take place in space but the crew of the Banshee sounds like a fun crowd to hang out with. Plus Space pirates! You have to love that!
Then while I was trying to come up with some more I ran across this other cover for Labyrinth Lost by Zoraida Cordova. I will admit I was not a big fan of the original cover, it was a little creepy and didn’t really tell you much about the book or drew you in like this new one does. I just love the gate with the skulls! Yep, I would definitely pick this one up. This was an awesome story that if you haven’t read I would highly recommend. It is a fantasy based on Hispanic folklore with an amazing dark and dangerous otherworld and a heroine who goes there to rescue her family.
Finally I think my favorite of the group would be Paper and Fire by Rachel Caine. I picked this one over the first book in the trilogy because it does show a little bit of the Great Library although you have to look a little hard for it. Plus it does have a little bit of a dragon looking creature on it. I will have started the next book in this wonderful and amazing series by the time this posts, and I am very excited to see how it continues. I’m hoping that at some point they do a fabulous box set where the box turns into one of the sphinxes or lions that guard the library, or something equally cool. Wouldn’t that be something.
There are other covers that have been popping into my head as I have been writing this, but I will save them for another day and another topic. Remember to pop on over to the Goodread’s Top Five Wednesday group to see what it is all about and to checkout other people’s lists. Can’t wait to see the covers others have come up with. This was a good one. Next week’s topic is Second Book is Best. I will have to do some serious thinking on that one.
Let me know what covers transported you into them in the comments. Till next time.
