Well it is December at last and 2017 is almost at a close. Am I panicking? Almost, I still have 5 ARCs from Netgalley that I have yet to read plus 9 due in January. I’m not sure how I got myself into this mess, but I am determined to get most of them read before the end of the year. I have two weeks off from school for winter break and hopefully I will be able to read through most of it. I may not eat or sleep, but I will get all of my reading done.
November was another slow reading month, mostly because of traveling and my son insisting that we binge watch Stranger Things when he was home for Thanksgiving. I don’t regret either of them. The conference was great, although because YALLFEST was the same weekend, there was a lack of YA authors at AASL’s conference. We still had fun though and met some great middle grade and picture book authors and illustrators. Got lots of free books as well! Some of us are now planning to attend ALA’s Midwinter conference in Denver. Stranger things was awesome too and fun to watch with my son. Can’t wait for the next season!
Well, back to talking about books. I finished 11 books this month. I was glad to see that it wasn’t me making errors on Goodreads, it was them! I do hope they can get it fixed before the end of the year so that I can see how many books I’ve read the whole year without having to count them in my reading journal.
Here are the books I finished:
But wait that is only ten, you said you read 11. Why yes, but I am keeping the last one a secret for now. Besides 10 lines up so much nicer than 11.
I only got one of my October ARC reads done, Gray Wolf Island, and only The Lost Frost Girl from November, but as I said before I am determined to get all of my ARCs for this year done before 2018. I think I posted the missing ARC’s last month, but I am doing it again as a commitment to myself and you that I will be getting them done.
My audio book TBR is really getting unmanageable as well. The weather has been so dark, wet and gloomy that I haven’t been getting out much. That is when I get a majority of my listening time in, but with winter break coming, I hope to find some more time. My audiobook selections are really dependent on my mood though, so I don’t want to say which books I’ll be listening to this month. I am currently listening to Furthermore by Tahereh Mafi and read by Bronson Pinchot, which I am enjoying immensely. I would like to move on to the second book in the series but my library doesn’t have the audiobook available yet. I did just download Hunting Prince Dracula, which I have been waiting to get for a while, so we shall see what happens.
I had a surprise book show up in my mailbox last week, All the Wind in the World by Samantha Mabry. I enter so many contests that sometimes I forget all about them. This one I was not expecting, I didn’t get an e-mail about winning, but it looks good and by an author whose other book I read and liked, so I will try to get it done soon. Here are the books (Not ARCs or audiobooks) I am committed to reading in December:
I still haven’t received Last Chance (it was a book I won last month) but I hope it shows up soon. I’ve started Intensity and so far so good.
That is pretty much my wrap up for the month. I hope you like the new wintry look of my blog. I really like the little snow falling that wordpress does, so I had to hurry and change out the fall designs. I hope you are having a good start to the month. Until next time.
