Top 5 Wednesday- Road Trip Books

Top 5 Wednesday!

This was a perfect topic for this week, because I am leaving on a trip tomorrow.  Not a road trip unfortunately, but still.  I love a good road trip book, so it wasn’t too hard to come up with five books, but I did notice that I haven’t read any lately. I did try to come up with ones I didn’t think other people would think of, so hopefully my list is a bit different from others.  A couple of them I read a while ago and so I don’t remember much about them, just that they were good.  I’ve linked the pictures to their GoodRead pages so you can add them to your TBR for your next road trip.  Also don’t forget to check out the GoodRead’s group and find some more good books.

1. Why We Took the Car by Wolfgang Herrndorf (2014)

Why We Took The Car

I read this a long time ago, and I am pretty sure I picked it up just because I was curious about why they took the car.  I remember it being funny, but very heartwarming.  Two misfits finding themselves on the road.

2. Tess of the Road by Rachel Hartman (2018)

Tess of the Road

Pretty much the ultimate road book.  She walks though through most of it, so hopefully that still counts.  I always think of road trip books as trips with cars.  But this is such a good book that I had to include it.

3. Vivian Apple at the End of the World by Katie Coyle (2015)

Vivian is on a road trip to find and save her parents, and the world pretty much is ending.  Again I read this a while ago and don’t remember the specifics, but just remember really liking it.

4. The Porcupine of Truth by Bill Konigsberg (2015)

The Porcupine of truth

A really sweet book about finding your past and maybe not finding what you thought you would.  A very sweet and emotional book, with no romance between the two main characters.

5. Going Bovine by Libba Bray (2009)

Going Bovine

I always forget that this book is by Libba Bray. It is just so different from her Diviner series.  It is a really weird but really good book, but there is a road trip in it.  Plus it won the Printz Award, so you know it will be full of feels.

Do you have any favorite road trip books?  Leave a comment and let me know, I need some more current ones to add to my TBR.
