Hyped 2019 books I don’t care about!
Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Lainey at GingerReads and Samantha at Thoughts on Tomes. You can find the group on Goodreads.
Wow, this was a tough one. I don’t really think about the books I don’t want to read, and if I’m not interested than I don’t really pay attention to the hype. So I had to go through old T5W post to see what others were excited about that I was like Meh! not interested. Unfortunately you all seem to be excited about the same books I am. But I was able to come up with five books, but please don’t hate me if one of them is the one book you are really looking forward to this year.
Slayer by Kiersten White (1/8/19)
I have been seeing this one around on many lists, but even though I liked the movie, I’m not sure I am into reading this book. Although I have enjoyed some of this authors other books, so never say never. I might change my mind once reviews start to pour in
The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi (1/15/19)
This is another author whose books I have enjoyed, but for some reason the summary of this one is just not pulling me in. I usually will give male narrators a try because there are so few of them in YA but, this one just isn’t in the cards. Although that cover sure is pretty.
Sherwood by Meagan Spooner (3/19/19)
I am usually all in for a Robin Hood retelling, but this one just doesn’t sit right with me. As much as I would like to think that there were strong women who flaunted the norms in a time period that women were considered property, I just can’t get beyond the likely hood that this couldn’t really happen. Sorry.
Kingsbane by Claire Legrand (5/21/19)
Furyborn was one of my most disappointing reads in 2018, so yeah probably won’t be picking this one up anytime soon. I do like the cover though!
Wicked Saints by Emily A. Duncan (4/2/19)
So I can honestly say that this one didn’t catch my notice until I started to look for hyped books, and I can’t say for sure that I won’t read it. It does sort of sound interesting? This is another one that I might be convinced to read at some point. And another one with a great cover!
Seee, I think Wicked Saints sounds awesome! But if it’s not grabbing you, it’s not…

It sort of grabs me? I have been burned by hyped books before though so I am a bit wary of it.

I don’t think I’ll read Slayer just because I haven’t watched any of the Buffy show at all so I’d be lost!

I have only seen the movie, so I would probably be a little lost too.
