I am having a hard time believing that the year is half over. Where does the time go? I enjoyed doing this last year, so I thought it would be fun to do again. I think it was a bit tougher this time around. I haven’t had that many reads that were truly remarkable, they were all good, just nothing so far that stands out from the rest. Just so you know, I also omitted some of the prompts that just weren’t working for me.
Best Book You’ve So Far Read in 2019
This was a tough one. Even though I have given high praise to a lot of books, when I look back at all of the titles, none of them jumped out as the best so far this year. So here are three that might make the final cut at the end of the year.
Best Sequel You’ve So Far Read in 2019
I have been reading a lot of sequels and finales in series, so this got a little tough. Again nothing jumped out to me as the best of the best, so here are three good ones.
New Release You Haven’t Read Yet, But Want To
Oh so many. I try to keep up, but that, I have decided, is a fruitless battle. I will get to these eventually, I swear.
Most Anticipated Release of the Second Half of 2019
I just did a post about this last week which you can read here. There were a lot of books in that post, so I have narrowed it down to these three.
Biggest Disappointment
This was an easy one. I actually have two. You can read my reviews for them to find out why.
Biggest Surprise
This was a bit of a tough one, but I finally settled on these two. Two Can Keep a Secret had a pretty good twist at the end. I didn’t think I would like Berserker as much as I did, given that it is set in the Old West. But it really was enjoyable, as was the sequel.
Favorite New To Me Author
Ben Aaronovitch. I have really been enjoying this series so much.
Favorite Crush
If you follow my blog, you were probably expecting me to say Magnus Bane, and even though I read The Red Scrolls of Magic, I decided to go with someone new. Shocking I know, just wanted to keep you all on your toes.
Adrian sul’Han, known as Ash, from the Shattered Realms series by Cinda Williams Chima. I have been finishing this series, and I decided that I really like Ash, almost as much as his father.
Book to Movie TV Series Adaptation
I haven’t been watching a whole lot of movies this year, but I have been binge watching a lot of TV series based on books. So far these two are my favorites. I was a bit disappointed with the depiction of the Four Horsemen in Good Omens, but otherwise they did a great job with this book.
Most Beautiful Book You’ve Bought this Year
I didn’t buy this one myself, it was a gift from my son for Mother’s Day, but it is beautiful.
What book do you need to read by the end of the year?
I think this prompt is the same as new releases I haven’t read yet, but I think I will go with Wicked King, since I need to read it before the sequel comes out in a few months.
So far I have read 80 books this year, which is pretty good for me. Now that summer has started and I am not working, I should be able to get some books done that I have been putting off.
Wow! 80 books is awesome! Good job 🙂 Good Omens was my favorite adaptation this year too ❤ They did an amazing job 😀

Yes they did. Except for leaving out some of the funnier parts with the four horsemen. Death also didn’t meet my expectations, but he never does when they adapt a Pratchett book.

Early Riser was a disappointment for me as well. 😦
