Goodreads Monday

This weekly meme was started by @Lauren’s Page Turners. To participate, choose a random book from your GoodReads TBR and show it off. Which sounds easy enough until you have to decide how to choose that book! I think I will use a different way each week, like picking a color or number of pages. I will let you know each week how I chose the book and then something interesting about it, like how it ended up on the list or why I want to read it. Got it? Okay let’s get started.

I’ve picked another book that is next in a series I need to read. I’m finding that by doing this post, it focuses me on a book, and I then usually end up reading it fairly quickly. Since I started this in September I have read six of the books I have talked about. I have a couple on hold at the library, and a couple sitting on my bedside table. Today’s pick is available at the library right now, but I have a couple of books I need to get through before I pick this one up. But pretty soon I hope I can get to it.

The Ever Cruel Kingdom by Rin Chupeco

Publication Date: November 10, 2020

After a treacherous journey and a life-shattering meeting with a twin neither knew they had, Haidee and Odessa expected to emerge from the Great Abyss to a world set right. But though the planet is turning once again, the creatures of the abyss will not rest until they have tasted another goddess’s sacrifice.

To break the cycle, Haidee and Odessa need answers that lie beyond the seven gates of the underworld, within the Cruel Kingdom itself. The shadows of the underworld may hunger to tear them apart, but these two sisters are determined to heal their world—together.

I really enjoyed the first book in the series, The Never Tilting World. I can’t wait to dive back into this world. I am considering rereading the first one, but I will need to see how much time I have in the next few weeks. I have winter break starting soon, so that should help a bit.

Have you read this series?
