This weekly meme was started by @Lauren’s Page Turners. It is now being hosted by Budget Tales Book Blog. To participate, choose a random book from your GoodReads TBR and show it off. Which sounds easy enough until you have to decide how to choose that book! I think I will use a different way each week, like picking a color or number of pages. I will let you know each week how I chose the book and then something interesting about it, like how it ended up on the list or why I want to read it. Got it? Okay let’s get started.
Last month I focused on Mystery/Thrillers and was able to go through my GoodReads list and eliminate some of the books I am no longer interested in, and find a few that I had forgotten about. I also read a couple on the list so, yeah! This month I have decided to tackle the fantasy list.
For my first choice, I have picked a back list title of a favorite author. I know many of you out there love this series so I am looking forward to giving it a try.
Nevernight by Jay Kristoff
Published: 2016
Summary from GoodReads:
In a land where three suns almost never set, a fledgling killer joins a school of assassins, seeking vengeance against the powers who destroyed her family.

Daughter of an executed traitor, Mia Corvere is barely able to escape her father’s failed rebellion with her life. Alone and friendless, she hides in a city built from the bones of a dead god, hunted by the Senate and her father’s former comrades. But her gift for speaking with the shadows leads her to the door of a retired killer, and a future she never imagined.
Now, Mia is apprenticed to the deadliest flock of assassins in the entire Republic—the Red Church. If she bests her fellow students in contests of steel, poison and the subtle arts, she’ll be inducted among the Blades of the Lady of Blessed Murder, and one step closer to the vengeance she desires. But a killer is loose within the Church’s halls, the bloody secrets of Mia’s past return to haunt her, and a plot to bring down the entire congregation is unfolding in the shadows she so loves.
Will she even survive to initiation, let alone have her revenge?
I got so excited about reading this that I have already downloaded the audiobook, read by Holter Graham (one of my favorites), and will start it as soon as I am done with my current audiobook. I am really looking forward to this! It has been on my Goodreads list since 2017 so it is about time I get around to it!
Ooh! I like this😍. I might try this.

Sounds good. I haven’t thought about cutting my list down. In all honesty it’s not like I will ever get to the end of it!!
Hope you have a great week.

I know, it is so hard to read everything I want to. But I do find that my tastes change and what I thought sounded good a couple of years ago, doesn’t appeal to me at all now.

I loved Nevernight. It took me a couple of tries to get hooked, but once I did, I knew I was in for the long run.

It is a little bit weird at the start, but now that I am getting into it I am really enjoying it.
