The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. It was relaunched on February 15, 2013 by Billy@Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.
This week’s prompt is:
What are some of your favorite books? (Julie @ Stepping Stone Book Reviews)
I sort of covered this yesterday in my book tag, so I am going to modify this prompt a bit and talk about favorite series. I also tried to limit my response to just five series so we wouldn’t be here all day!
1. The DiscWorld series by Sir Terry Pratchett.
I have read every single book in this series and loved them all. If you love dry humor and satirical writing than you really should check these out. You don’t have to read them in any particular order as they really are stand alones, except for the first two, those are connected.
2. The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Universe series by Douglas Adams
Another great series that makes me laugh everytime I read them. Did you know these originally started off as radio shows in England? The story of how they became published books is really interesting if you like that kind of stuff.
3. The Slough House series by Mick Herron
I thought I would include a few newer series and this is one of my favorites. I love the humor and the fact that this group of misfits and incompetents tend to save the world or at least England again and again.
4. The Veronica Speedwell Mystery Series by Deanna Raybourn
Another series of books that never fail to make me laugh. I love the relationship between Veronica and Stoker and all of their banter. Their slow burn romance through the first three books was awesome as well. The mysteries are well done and often hard to figure out.
5. The Well Met Series by Jen Deluca
I am not a huge fan of romance, but I do indulge every now and then. I came across this series and just fell in love with it. The characters are all very realistic and I love the backdrop of the renaissance fair.
I could have easily made this into a much longer list, but I tried to narrow it down and to talk about a couple of different genres. I hope you enjoyed this post and Happy Reading to you all!
