The Random Number Book Tag

I found this tag on Book it with Becca and thought it would be a quick, easy and fun one to do. I have been thinking of doing a purge of my Goodreads TBR and this sort of fits into that. Let’s see if I end up getting rid of any of my books on my TBR.

  • Link back to the original creator (The Corner of Laura)
  • Go to your preferred random number generator, set the number limit to the exact number of books on your TBR list (on Goodreads or any other equivalent list) and generate 7 different numbers.
  • Find the books on your TBR list that correspond with those numbers
  • Explain why you added it, try to predict what you will think of it now and decide whether you’re going to keep it on your TBR or delete it.
  • (Optional) Challenge yourself to read the ones you decide to keep within seven weeks
  • (Optional) Tag 5 or more other people.

Book # 60

Circe by Madeline Miller

I think this one ended up on my list way back when it was first published and everyone was gushing about how good it was. I have always loved the greek myths and for the most part have enjoyed many of the retellings that I have read over the years. Not sure why I haven’t picked this one up yet. I think I just keep forgetting about it. I still see reviews and mentions of it now and then, so it will stay on the list for now. I might try to get to it soon.

Book #39

Igniting Darkness by Robin LaFevers

I don’t think I have an excuse for why I haven’t read this one. It is the last book in a series that I have enjoyed quite a bit. I probably just missed it coming out and now it has been so long, I might have to reread the other books before this one. Or maybe not. I sort of remember the series well enough. I loved that cover too. This one will stay on the list for now. Though it may be awhile before I get to it.

Book # 69

Dark Shores by Danielle L. Jensen

I have no idea how this book came onto my list, but it does sound like one I would really enjoy. It has a high seas adventure, romance, maybe some gods meddling into the affairs of mortals, what’s not to like? The only reason I can think of that I haven’t read it yet is maybe the YA label. Don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy a good YA romance now and again, but lately it has not been a go to genre for me. But this series might be a good summer read, so I will keep it in mind for later.

Book # 176

Sword Catcher by Cassandra Clare

I’m pretty sure this one needs no explanation about why it is on my list. I love almost all of the Shadowhunter books, never got into the Infernal Devices or the last ones that were set in that time period as well. But I still really love her writing style and she always has great plots and characters. I can’t wait to see where she goes outside of the Shadowhunter world.

Book #94

Never Saw Me Coming by Vera Kurlan

I think this one ended up on my list last year from when I used to do a post about upcoming titles I wanted to read. This one still sounds good, I never could resist a story about a sociopath, so I don’t think I will take it off the list quite yet. The rating on Goodreads isn’t great, but not bad either and it was nominated for an Edgar so that is something to keep in mind as well.

Book # 146

The Sea Detective by Mark Douglas-Home

This is one that I am pretty sure I saw on the Wicked Witch’s Blog not too long ago. I have been getting a lot of good detective stories, mysteries and thrillers lately from her blog. None of them have ever disappointed me. This just might end up being one of my next reads as I just put it on hold at the library.

Book # 44

The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch

This is another book that I see a lot on other people’s blog, usually being mentioned as one of their favorite books. This is another one that has all of the elements that I usually enjoy in my books. So I really don’t have a good excuse for this one except, when I went to see if it was available at the library, I was surprised to see long holds for all three versions available (physical, audiobook and ebook). That might be why I haven’t read it yet. Everytime I thought about reading it, it wasn’t available right away. It also is chunkster, coming in at 752 pages. That will definitely have to wait till I have lots of time on my hands.

That was kind of fun. I ended up not deleting anything, but that is okay. I did get reminded of a few books that I really do intend to read and now they are at the forefront of my reading mind. I know I won’t get to any of these in the next seven weeks, but I think I might try to read them before the end of the year or even maybe the summer. I have one on hold at the library already, so at least that one will be done soon.

I am not going to tag anyone, but please feel free to do this if you want to.
