The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. It was relaunched on February 15, 2013 by Billy@Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.
This week’s topic is:
What questions would you ask any author if you had the chance?
(submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer)
As a librarian I have met many authors over the years. Some have come to my school for visits, some I have met at conferences, and I don’t think I have asked the same set of questions to any of them. The questions really depend on who the author is, or how much time I have with them, (signing line versus breakfast or dinner or a presentation where questions can be asked). Sometimes the question is about something personal I know about the author, but other times it is more about their book or series.
When I have the time to really talk to an author I do like to hear about their writing process. Where do they get their ideas from, do they do outlines for their books, or just start writing. Not being a writer myself, I always find the process fascinating. I also really like to hear about how two authors collaborated on a book. Did they split the characters or the chapters? These collaborations are especially interesting when the authors don’t live near each other or even in the same country. Although that is much easier these days than in the past.
This will be a really interesting topic to hear other people’s responses to. I know a lot of people don’t get the opportunity to visit with authors like I have, so it will be interesting to see what questions they would ask.
