I am so looking forward to August! It is one of my favorite months, but I also have a lot of good books lined up to read that I am super excited about. I did manage to read all of the books on my July TBR, which is always great. I am upping my quota a bit this month putting 10 books on the list instead of my usual 8. Partly because I have 5 ARC’s to read and I like even numbers better than odd, but also because I will have lots of reading time this month.
ARC’s I need to read

The Secret Hours is the newest book by one of my favorite authors. I am a bit disappointed that it is not another book about the Slow House characters, but I am still excited to read it.
The Last Devil to Die is the fourth book in the Thursday Murder Club series. I don’t even think I know what this one is about but I am excited to spend more time with this fun group of characters and see what shenanigans they get up to.
The Art of Destiny is the second book in a fantasy series. The first book, The Art of Prophecy, took the tired troupe of the chosen one and kind of threw it out the window. Great characters and a very complex plot, one I can really sink my teeth into.
Starter Villain is the shortest book on this list, but I won’t hold that against it. I am hoping that it is as funny as that cover and summary are.
The Fragile Threads of Power is my most anticipated read of the year. I can’t wait to return to the Four Londons and see some old friends and make new ones.
Other books I intend to read

Hazards of Time Travel is a book that I saw on Wicked Witch’s Blog and really wanted to read. I picked it up right away from the library, but alas it has been sitting on my bedside table ever since. I hope to pick it up really soon.
Coffin Road is another library book that has been patiently waiting for me to pick up for weeks now. Soon, I promise.
Dead Things is the first book in an urban fantasy series that I am hoping will fill the empty space in my life until the next Dresden Files book comes out. And of course I am always up for a good necromancer tale.
The Lewis Man is the second book in the mystery series by one of my new favorite authors. You might notice that there are two of his books on this list and in all honesty, I will probably read more than these two this month.
The Aeronaut’s Windlass is the first book in The Cinder Spires series. It will be the first book by Jim Butcher that I will read that is not a Dresden File book. But I am really looking forward to reading this one as I received the ARC for book two a couple of weeks ago.

That is my official list for August, but I hope to read more than this. At least three of these books are over 600 pages, and I think many are around 400, so that might slow me down a bit. But I am hopeful that all of them will be awesome and entertaining. I hope all of you have great books lined up to read in August. Until next time….
I loved The Aeronauts Windlass and am eagerly waiting for the sequel which apparently will be out at the end of the year. I can’t wait to read the V E Schwab too. I’ll be interested to see what you think about The Hazards of Time Travel. I enjoyed it but not as much as I hoped I would
