WWW Wednesday

I had a lovely time out on the coast. Our campsite was right on the water and there was great tide pooling in the morning. We even saw a pair of river otters! We also saw some meteors as this was the weekend for peak viewing of the Perseid meteor shower. We did not stay up late enough to really see some, but we saw enough. I didn’t really get any reading done the two day we were gone. But I did manage to finish 3 books before we left and then I finished one last night.

What am I currently reading?

The Last Devil to Die is my current ARC and I should be starting it sometime today or tomorrow. I am looking forward to hanging out with the Thursday Murder club again.

I’ll Be Gone in the Dark is really well done, but I might have to stop reading it at night in bed. I am finding myself jumping at the slightest sounds.

The Aeronaut’s Windlass started off a little confusing, the world building is rather complex and there are a lot of characters to keep track of. But once I got the hang of all that I am finding myself quite enjoying it. This one also has cats as characters!

What have I recently finished reading?

The Fragile Threads of Power was amazing and wonderful. I think it might be my favorite book of the year so far.

Hazards of Time Travel was good, but a bit disappointing. I just wanted a little more action maybe? Not sure what didn’t quite work for me in this one.

The Chessmen was very good, but I would have liked a bit more resolution for Fin in the ending.

Starter Villain was hilarious. The characters are great and the cats are especially amazing. I am planning to write a review and have it up by tomorrow.

What will I read next?

The Art of Destiny will be my next and last ARC for August. This is my longest read this month, but I am sure it will be good.

Dead Things will be my next library read. I am looking forward to reading this urban fantasy.

The Man With No Face might be my next audiobook, but we shall see. My current one will take awhile to finish and I have a couple of others on hold, so it kind of depends on a lot of things coming together.

We are having a bit of a heat wave here in Seattle which for us means temperatures in the mid 90s. But considering that our average summer temperature is only 72, it is really hot to us. We missed the two worst days while we were out on the coast, but I am hopeful it will be over soon. I’m just not used to this heat and it makes me a bit grumpy.
