Stacking the Shelves

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! And audiobooks. Donโ€™t forget audiobooks!

In other words, if you can read it or if it can be read to you โ€“ no matter how you got it โ€“ it belongs in Stacking the Shelves.

The Stacking the Shelves meme was originally hosted at Team Tyngaโ€™s Reviews. It is currently hosted by Reading Reality.

This always seems to happen. A whole bunch of books I had on hold all show up at the same time. I picked up four today, but there are three more on their way! I don’t think they will get here before this posts, so I will include them next week. I also still have three library books sitting on my table that I haven’t touched yet. Luckily they are shortish reads so hopefully I can get them done quick.

I didn’t get any new books on Netgalley, but I did download all of my October ARCs onto my ipad, so I thought I would include those in this week’s post as well. Plus one of my audiobooks that I have been waiting a while for finally came! I am excited to get started on that one!

Library books I have added to my bedside stack

Chasing the Darkness got on my radar recently from someone’s review (sorry, don’t remember whose) and it sounded really interesting. Plus I love that cover! I’m a sucker for a brooding hot guy with swords.

The Hundred Lives of Juliet has been getting some good reviews, so I have decided to give it a try. I have liked other books by this author so I am hoping this one will be good too.

I decided to give the Eric Carter series a chance and requested the second book, Broken Souls. I didn’t quite expect it to show up so quick, but there you go.

The Puzzle of Blackstone Lodge is actually the third in a series, which I don’t think I knew when I put it on hold. I think it is ok to read these out of order, but just in case I did grab the first book off the shelf.

Gallows Court is the first book in the Rachel Savernake series ( see above). I was happy that it was just sitting on the shelf at my local branch so that I wouldn’t have to wait for it. These are historical mysteries which can sometimes be a miss for me, but I am hopeful that I will like this one.

ARC’s I’ve added to my ipad

Night of the Witch is a YA fantasy with an enemies to lovers romance. It is the first book in a new series by these two awesome authors. I have enjoyed books by both these ladies so I am sure I will enjoy this one as well.

A Stroke of the Pen is a collection of lost short stories by Terry Pratchett. I am so looking forward to reading this one. They are not set in the Discworld but I am ok with that.

Long Past Dues is the second book in an urban fantasy series. I read the first book, Dead Man’s Hand and quite enjoyed it. I am hoping this one will be just as good.

An Inheritance of Magic is a book I requested because of that cover, I just love it. The summery kind of cinched it though. It sounds like a really fun urban fantasy.

Two Twisted Crowns is another sequel to a YA fantasy romance series. I enjoyed the first book, One Dark Window, this spring, so I am looking forward to reading this one.

Audiobooks

My hold for All the Sinners Bleed finally came through. I am excited to get started on this one. I hopefully will be done with my current listen this weekend and will be able to start it early next week. I love murder mysteries set in small towns.

I can already tell that September is going to be a busy reading month. It is a good thing that I am not working, or I wouldn’t have time to read all of these wonderful books. I hope you are all making time for reading and enjoying your books.

Until next time…

Happy Reading!

  1. Thatโ€™s a great collection for September. I like the Rachel Savernake books but would definitely read Gallows Court first. I lโ€™ve really enjoyed the Benedict Jacka books that Iโ€™ve read so I will certainly look out for this new one. That cover is gorgeous
