WWW Wednesday

I had a really busy weekend, so I struggled a bit with getting anything else done. What spare time I did have I of coursed spent reading. Unfortunately, the reading was not all that great for the most part. Trying to read two really long fantasy books at the same time was maybe a mistake. I did manage to finish one, but the other is now in hold as it isn’t really holding my attention. I am hoping that I can finish it soon, but I may also have to dnf it, which would be sad.

What am I currently reading?

Kaiju Preservation Society is the book that I am currently focusing on. I just started it last night and I am already more than halfway done. I am really enjoying this take on the whole Godzilla franchise.

Curious Tides has been vexing me. For some reason I am really struggling to get this one done. It is just not holding my attention the way I want it to. I love the magical system but the rest is just leaving me bored? Not quite that, but I am not sure what it is that is not quite working for me.

A Study in Drowning is pretty good. I am struggling a little bit with the world building, and I am not totally sure where the story is going, but I like the characters.

What have I recently finished reading?

Red Seas Under Red Skies was really long and the pacing was quite slow through the first half. But it was still a really good read.

Where the Drowned Girls Go was good. I probably would have liked it better if I was more familiar with the series and the characters. The ending also felt unfinished to me.

Tales of the Greatcoats was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed listening to the various readers read these short stories. I am so excited about his new book coming out in December! I’m hoping he comes down from Vancouver to Seattle for a visit!

What will I read next?

Either The Measure or Zero Days will be my next read. I am not sure which one I will be in the mood for, or I might just pick something else up.

The Hexologists will be my next audiobook. I have been hearing a lot of good things about this one lately and I am really looking forward to listening to it.

Part of my plan this month was to catch up on books I own, but I am falling way behind on that. I should be wrapping up all of my current library books soon and as long as a bunch of the ones I have on hold don’t show up at once, I should be able to get to my other books soon. Fingers crossed.
