My Year in Books: 2023

Ah, December!A time to reflect on the year and take a look at all that you have accomplished, or not.I actually feel like I have accomplished a lot this year.I retired after 30+ years of teaching.I managed to keep up with this blog, which at times was difficult.I also read a lot of good books this year.Over the course of the next few weeks I will be taking a look back at all of those books I read, and maybe even a few I haven’t gotten to yet and pick a few of my favorites. This week I will be looking at all of the lovely covers that have graced the books of 2023 and sharing some of my favorites.

My Favorite Covers

Song of Silver, Flame Like Night I think is my favorite of the year.Such a beautiful dragon and I really like the colors. The cover for the second book is also gorgeous.

Dragonfall is also a beautiful cover of a dragon.I am so glad that dragons seem to be making a comeback. They are one of my favorite creatures.I really like the two colors in this cover and how the dragon’s tail slips through the letters and the moon.I think this is a rather underrated book and highly suggest you give it a try.The cover for the second book is also gorgeous.

Her Radiant Curse was a beautifully written prequel to the Six Crimson Cranes duology and I really enjoyed it.The cover is wonderful as well.

Two Twisted Crowns also has a very beautiful cover.I love how the two trees twist to make a doorway of sorts that almost looks like a heart. The red corner accents that match her dress is also a really nice touch.

An Inheritance of Magic is another very well done cover. I like the corner motifs and the cat in the center is so cute.I really enjoyed this book and I am really looking forward to the next book in the series. I totally picked this book because of the cover and I am so glad I did.

Greymist Fair is another underrated book that I think more people should take a look at.I mean, just look at that cover! It is so spooky, as is the story within. The story is a little bit spooky and somewhat hard to follow, but it is certainly worth sticking with it.

That was fun!I could have picked a few more covers to gush about, but six seemed like a good number.I don’t know yet which topic I will pick for my next Looking Back post, but I for one will enjoy doing whatever I decide on.I do like taking a look back and reminding myself about all of the wonderful books I was able to read this year.Until next time…

Happy Reading!
