First Lines Friday

First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?

  • Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
  • Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
  • Finally… reveal the book!

Got it? Okay let’s go! Here is the quote…

“This war of ours, the one between the Vampyres and the Weres, began several centuries ago with brutal escalations of violence, culminated amid flowing torrents of varicolored blood, and ended in a whimper of buttercream cake on the day I met my husband for the first time.”

Do you know this one?

Wow, that is all one sentence!

This book has been super popular lately…

Have you guessed?

Yes? No?

Give up?

Here it is!

Bride by Ali Hazelwood

I just finished this earlier this week and I enjoyed it. This is the first book I’ve read by Ali Hazelwood and if this is any indication of her other works, I just might need to check those out. I hope to have a review of the audiobook up later today. Hope you are all having a great Friday!
