Audiobook reviews:

Happy Friday! Today I am bringing you two audiobook reviews that are pretty short. I have previously read both of these books, but wanted to do a reread of both of them before reading the second book. I decided to do the audiobooks and I am so glad I did because they were both excellent. If you want to read my reviews of the books, just click on their titles, these reviews are all about how awesome the audiobooks are.

The Isles of the Gods by Amie Kaufman

Read by: Nikki Patel, Homer Todiwala, Donnabella Mortel, Vidish Athavale and Steve West

As you can probably guess, this audiobook has a full cast of narrators and they were all excellent. Full cast audiobooks are absolutely the best way to listen to a book that has many points of view, especially when each chapter highlights a certain character. And though I wouldn’t swear to it, I do think in this book the narrators voiced their own dialog too. It was hard to tell sometimes though.

Nikki Patel and Steve West voice the two main characters, Selly and Leander. Their voices were perfect for these roles. Nikki did a great job sounding like a young woman coming into her own but having the doubts and fears that we all had at that age. Steve sounds just like I would imagine a young prince with all of the charm and magic he could possess, but still sound frightened and upset when things go horribly wrong. The banter between these two was excellent as well. You could just feel the romance building between them.

Donnabella as Laskia also did an excellent job. Laskia is the villain and Donnabella does a great job making her sound like a young woman who will stop at nothing to get what she wants, yet still showing her vulnerability and guilt with some of the things she feels she must do. I loved Vidish Athavale as Keegan, for some reason he just had the perfect voice to bring him to life. Homer Todiwala also does an excellent job as Jude. I love his deep and sad voice, which is how I pictured Jude’s voice being.

If you are into audiobooks, you can’t go wrong with listening to this book. Excellent cast reading a great book.

Full Speed to a Crash Landing by Beth Revis

Read by Dara Rosenberg and David Bendena

Publication Date: August 6, 2024

August 6th

This novella was just as good the second time around as the first! Plus, Dara Rosenberg does a great job of bringing Ada to life. I loved her sarcastic tone when she was being a pain as well as her fun banter with the crew. Listening to the story as a reread allowed me to immerse myself in the story more than the first time I read it. I was able to pick up on many things that Ada implied about what was really going on, and I thought that was brilliant.

David Bendena also did an excellent job. His was a bit tougher as he only comes in at the end of the book as Rian is giving his reports on what had happened. It was fun to listen to David go from a serious tone to one full of frustration with a touch of anger and disbelief that he fell for Ada’s ruse.

Even though I have an ARC for the second book, which I am planning on starting as soon as I finish this post, I will definitely be listening to this one as soon as it is available. Although I just might wait till closer to the next and final book coming out in April. Another well done and not to be missed book and audiobook.

I don’t know how many of you listen to audiobooks, I know they are not for everyone, but these two audiobooks are certainly worth giving a chance. They are excellent and I can’t wait to listen to the next books in the series.

Until next time…

Happy Listening!
