Quarter Year Crisis Book Tag! 2025 edition!

A quarter of the year has passed and it hasn’t been a bad one at far as my reading has been. I haven’t had any great reads yet, but I have been enjoying many of them, especially the romantacies. So far I have been keeping up on my goals and my challenges, although my reading has been a bit on the moody side. This tag was created by Roisin’s Reading on BookTube.

How many books have you read so far?

47

I think this is a pretty average total for me, although last year I had read more books than this. On average I read around 16 books a month so I am only one book short of that.

Have you found a book that you think might be a 2025 favourite?

I have only given out 5 stars to two books so far this year, and of the two, The Ornithologist’s Field Guide to Love, is the only one that will probably remain at the top of my favorites of the year list. But it could easily be knocked off as I have lots of great books coming up this summer.

Any least favourite book of the year?

I’m not sure this is the least favorite, but I found Blood of Hercules to be quite disturbing. The romance aspect really didn’t work for me, but I did like the main female character.

Most read genre?

Fantasy

So according to Storygraph I have read 17 fantasy books. But of course some of those were also mysteries and historical and romances. So take that as you will.

A book that surprised me?

After being somewhat disappointed by the first two books in this series, I was surprised at how much I liked A Brush with Death. Some of my issues with the series still held, but this one at least had an interesting mystery that was hard to solve.

A book that has come out in 2025 that I haven’t yet read?

I am not doing too badly on this one, but these three are high on my list and I hope to have them all read in the next few weeks, maybe even the end of this month.

One goal you made that you’re succeeding at?

I am doing pretty good on all of my goals, except for maybe trying to relax a bit about how much I am reading. I am still feeling some pressure that I am not getting through enough books for whatever reason. Not having a yearly goal helps, but I still feel the need to read at least three books a week.

One goal that you need to focus on?

I still have done nothing about my graphics. This might just be laziness on my part, but I still hope to find some time to do this before the year is out.

So even though my reading hasn’t been spectacular lately, I am still pretty pleased with the way the year is going. I am hoping that a few more books will wow me before we hit the halfway mark. Many of the books I have read so far have been good, but nothing that I have felt really joyful about.

I just noticed as I was finishing this up that this will be my 2,000 post on my blog. Just felt the need to acknowledge that!

I hope your reading journey so far this year has been a good one. Until next time…

Happy Reading!

  1. Happy 2000th blog post!!! That’s a great achievement. Well done for keeping up with all of your goals. You should definitely not feel pressured about how much you read as that could end up spoiling what reading you do. Two or three books a week is great but it should just be how much you want to (or have time to sometimes)
    Here’s to the next quarter!!!!

  2. Wow! Happy 2000th blog post!! I loved The Ornithologists Field Guide to Love, and just bought the second book in the series. The pressure to pick up books is real, especially as a blogger but I think not having a yearly goal is a great idea πŸ™‚
