My May 2025 TBR

April seemed especially long to me. Perhaps because it was so rainy and cold for the first half and then this last week was sunny and warm! It made for a very mixed up kind of month. But the reading was good, so there is that. I did finish my April TBR, plus many more books. My official list for May is pretty short. Mostly because I only have three ARCs lined up. Why only three you ask? Well two of them I know will be pretty heavy reads and I want to give them the attention they deserve. The third is a lighter book just to mix things up a bit. I have also been in a bit of a funny mood about my other reading so I’m not sure what I might be picking up in the next few weeks. So to round out this list to six books, I have added three books that I have chosen for my challenges.

ARCs I need to read

The Listeners is a bit of a departure for this author’s other works. It is her first book aimed at adults and it is set in the 1940’s. But it sounds like it will have many of the other aspects I love about this author’s works so, it should be good.

Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil is a book I have been looking forward to ever since she first mentioned it a year ago. It is about vampires and takes place across three different times. I’ve heard good things about and I haven’t yet not loved one of her books.

Sounds Like Love is the sweet and light book I picked to kind of offset the other two. I am expecting to have all of the feels for this one as well, they just hopefully will be lighter than the other two.

Other books I plan to read

The Buzzword Cover Challenge prompt for May is a cover featuring eyes. I immediately thought of this book, and since I haven’t yet read Yellowface, well it was obvious that I would save it for now.

Sunrise on the Reaping is a prequel to the Hunger Games, so that fits perfectly for one of my prompts on the 52 Book Club Challenge. I have heard good things about this one, but mostly I am expecting it to make me cry.

Field Notes From a Fungi Forager is my pick this month for the Nonfiction Challenge. I love looking at mushrooms and other fungi when I am out on hikes and walks in the woods. I don’t particularly care about eating them, I just find them fascinating.

That’s it for next month’s reading list. I have other books lined up but depending on my mood and how quickly I get through these I might not get to some of them. I think I will need to be on the lookout for some happier books to read as well. Until next time…

Happy Reading!

  1. That certainly looks like a great list lined up for May. I hope that Sunrise on the Reaping doesn’t break you too much as all of the reviews I’ve seen say that’s an emotional read.
