Stacking the Shelves

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! And audiobooks. Don’t forget audiobooks!

In other words, if you can read it or if it can be read to you – no matter how you got it – it belongs in Stacking the Shelves.

The Stacking the Shelves meme was originally hosted at Team Tynga’s Reviews. It is currently hosted by Reading Reality.

Well, my library stack is getting away from me again, but I think I am getting a bit of a respite after this week as all of the other books I have on hold won’t be available for awhile. A couple of them haven’t been published yet, so I’m safe for now. I might just be running into trouble with my audiobooks soon though. I have 6 audiobooks on hold and even though they look like they will be nicely spaced out, I just know that a bunch of them will show up at the same time. Luckily I am going through audiobooks pretty quickly lately. Doing much better with them than with the physical books right now.

Library books I have added to my bedside stack

Terrestrial History is kind of hard to explain. I saw something about it on an author’s website and thought I would give it a chance. It is a science fiction, time-bending story of a Scottish family that spans time and space. There’s something about climate change and a mars colony.

My Roommate is a Vampire is the first book in a romance series that I decided to give a chance. I’m very interested in the third book that is coming out in the fall, but didn’t want to get the ARC if I didn’t jibe with the author’s style, so I thought I would give the first book a read.

The Adventures of Mary Darling sounds like a really interesting book. It is a retelling of Peter Pan but told from the mother’s point of view and it has Sherlock Holmes in it as well. It sounds weird, but I think it just might work?

ARCs I’ve added to my Netgalley account

A Land So Wide is another standalone from the wonderful Erin Craig. I always enjoy her writing and her creepy books and this one looks to be another good one. It sounds similar to Small Favors, as it features a small town on the edge of a woods with lots of dangerous monsters. I really liked Small Favors, so hopefully this one will be good as well. It come out in early September.

The House Saphir is a Bluebeard retelling (is it me or do there seem to be a lot of those lately?), by one of my favorite authors. This one has a modern twist to it and a lot of ghosts and monsters. This comes out in November.

Audiobooks

Lady’s Knight is also and ARC but it is an audiobook that I picked up this week. I am really enjoying this one. It is a lot funnier than I thought it was going to be. I love the two main characters and there is this mysterious anonymous narrator that jumps in every now and then that is also quite amusing. Looking forward to the dragons showing up! This one is available on June 3rd!

I don’t know what books I might be picking up next week. I have a few more challenge prompts that I need to get done soon, so maybe those will be next. I just need to start reading those physical books faster! Until next time…

Happy Reading!
