My January 2026 TBR

Happy New Year, well almost! I hope you are all ready to put 2025 behind you. It is a brand new year and it should be an exciting one. At least as far as reading goes. Lots of good books coming out this year and I am excited for many of them including the ones for the month of January. Let’s take a look at them.

ARCs I need to read

A Gift Before Dying is first up as it comes out at the end of January. It is a mystery/thriller set in the wilderness of the Arctic Circle. It is a debut and the author used to live and work in the Arctic.

The Final Problem is a historic mystery set on a remote island. It sounded really interesting and I just love that cover.

Strange Animals also has a very intriguing cover and and interesting premise. It is also a debut and it is an urban fantasy set in the Appalachian Mountains and full of wonderful creatures. It is also a debut.

Her Last Breath is the newest novel by one of my favorite thriller authors. I am really excited to read this one, even though it sounds scarier than his other books.

After the Fall is another book by one of my favorite authors but this time of Science Fiction. I just love his books and this one sounds interesting. It is about humans being kept as pets by aliens. The tagline is: Part alien invasion story, part buddy comedy, and part workplace satire.

Other books I plan to read

The Hearth Witch’s Guide to Magic and Murder was a book I found wandering the library last week. It sounded good and it has footnotes, which I really enjoy in fiction. It is also a cozy fantasy mystery, so how could I say no!

A Strange Habit of Mind is the second book in a new thriller mystery series I discovered recently. The main character is and exspy who is now an english professor. The main character is sort of Holmes type character, who is able to see all of the parts of the mystery and come to conclusions that no one else even thought of.

The Frozen People is a book I have been waiting to read since it came out, and finally my hold came through. It is a cold case time travel story and I have heard really good things about it. I love this cover (UK), the US one kind of stinks, but oh well.

So looking forward to all of these. I have a few more lined up, but most of them are on hold, so I don’t know for sure which ones will show up this month. This year is starting off quite well I think. Until next time…

Happy Reading!
